Our best wave was with the heavier people in the surf side rear seat, amd then 2-3 people in the bow for length. I've discovered that if I fill only the deck bag and nothing else, I get a decent wave, that can be improved with more ballast or more people. If I start with stock ballast and people, I've got basically nothing until I add the swim deck bag. The swim deck bag is the most important ballast component, for sure. As for speed, we're between 10.2 and 10.8 with the Ridesteady. It's really surfer preference for us. I haven't seen a large impact on the wave at either end of that range. The great thing about the swim deck bag, is that I now KNOW I can get a great wave with that bag and enough people on the boat. So my ballast project after the season will just be an attempt to replicate people weight, so we can surf with 1 or two in the boat, instead of trying to manufacture some mythical wave that doesn't exist yet. ***And another note, we're beginners, like 3rd or 4th weekend surfing, ever, and the only board I have is a $199 airhead bonzai. We're all ropeless, immediately after getting up, from 180lbs to 240. That's how good the wave is.
I really like your approach!
I'm learning a lot this year from you guys.

I'm trying to use my Wake Makers timers to basically start adding ballast "increments" to built-in bags - as those timers reset automatically after each activation/push. So - I want to have them dialed to, say, each push/activation would flow 300 or 400 lbs of water added etc.
After I'll fill the new swim bag to capacity, that is.

Here is my 1st surf session of the year little rusty no making fun of me !

Any chance you can get back there and ride that wave? I would like to see some review comments from the water for the 19’.

I was wanting to try it out yesterday but the water would have been too rough on the lake I was on. Tons of people out and it was like a washing machine. I'm hoping to try putting someone back there soon. My wife is not into surfing at this point so it will need to be when I have my buddies out with me again.

I've had up to 1800 lbs in my 192 without a good wave. I'm really hoping this bag works. I don't doubt that's it's possible to surf the 19's, I just don't think they will ever make a decent wave. In other words, you will be lucky to make a tiny pocket that allows ropeless surfing, but forget moving around the pocket.

I don't have any experience surfing, so take my opinion very lightly. Someone prove me wrong, I really want to surf with my boat.
ballast placement is key. I tried ~1400 lbs last year and the wave was nothing compared to just the 490 bag this year. The fact you can get that weight on the lower swim platform, not just the upper platform, means it really pushes the corner of the boat down. I don't think straight line surfing with a big (wake/surf boat) type wave is ever going to be a thing on the 19' boats because once you have the boat listed over it will naturally want to turn whichever side all the weight is on. So if you wanted to go straight the jet wash will spill over and flatten out the top of the wave. So adding a small amount of turn whichever side the boat is naturally wanting to turn made the wave come to life so to speak. Much larger, longer and vertical than the 1400 lbs I tried last year with the bags on top of the rear and side seats. When I tried the 750 lb bag with the 490 I would need to have other people in the bow or ballast bag if there aren't enough human ballast just to get the boat attitude to come down a bit otherwise there is no way I can use all of the 750 bag no. THAT tells you how much of an impact this swim deck bag makes compared to just putting a 50o on top of the upper swim platform!

These swim deck bags work for making a wave. Better than any other bags I've tried on my boat. What's crazy is just how much of an impact they make and it's all because they are shaped to fit in the corner of the swim deck but a]more importantly on BOTH platforms. I think getting that extra weight in the lower platform has been the biggest factor. With these bags you can run LESS weight than you probably were before and get BETTER results.

I have the ronix 8.3 bags And their pump. Would I have to buy a new pump to utilize this bag?

If you can change the end to a a fly high twist lock end then no you wouldn't. OR you could change a fitting on the bag to accommodate your pump.

What are the bags selling for now for the 240 series?

375, includes shipping and fittings

That is for the flu high fitting

Yep I have them all purchased already

This is a pretty interesting comparison showing just how much of an effect the 19' 490 lb swim deck bag does compared to ~1400 lbs of ballast across the rear seats in an approximate 60/40 split of weight (heavier bag favoring port side). The height of the wave alone is much taller with the 490 lb because the ass end of the boat is pushed further into the water. When the 1400 lbs was on the rear bench seat the swim deck was low but not as low as it gets with the 490 because the weight is further forward with ballast on the bench. The wave looks to me a little longer as well with the 490 bag. Speeds were about the same IIRC. My boat likes to get around 10.5 or so once it settles in.

Obviously the camera angles are different but if I were able to get my camera low in the swim deck with the 490 lb bag like I was able to with the 1400 it would look even taller. That being said look at the pics below and even from a higher up perspective you can tell the 490 lb bag throws a taller wave! Kind of crazy when you think of the difference in weight, ballast fill times, gas, etc of hauling all the extra weight when in reality it may not have been needed. Need to surf this thing to truly know but just playing with shaping the 19' wave this far has been an interesting journey.

@haknslash are we good? Can I just change the handle location and call it done?

After that I will order a couple to have in stock.

Put my name on a 19' bag.

Yes I think so. Just move the handles from the bottom to the rear slanted surface like your bag is and I think it's good to go.

Do you have any bags for the 21foot boats left ? If so I'll take one please
I sure do. PM me your email address for a PayPal invoice and your shipping info.

That is the lower tow hook for skiing and tubing. That is factory.

Must not be on the 21 foot boats. I'll have to add one to mine - seems like a great spot to tie in ballast. I'm having to tie to the tower currently and that looks tacky.
