The timing chain part was replaced in all 1.8l engines produced after 07/15. So, for example, a boat made in 10/15 would have the new part.

So if my 2016 AR192 has 07/15 on top of engine I am good? It is a 2016 and engine has 07/15 Thanks!

The dates I was told were about the 1.8l n/a. I think the SHO changes go further back, if anything, but I DO NOT know for sure.
If you bought from a dealer, they DO have a way to tell what parts you have.

Good for you Yamaha...Now step up and send out a letter to owners of these boats that you will warranty timing chain failure for the next 10 years.

That's what Toyota did on the tundra AIP pumps. They were getting a lot of failures so they extended the warranty on that specific part/system to 10 years/150K miles.

That's how you keep confidence in your brand.

Toyota is tops in CS. I had my 1994 MR2 in for a free oil change. Sometime in between 1994 and 2014 airbag velocities had been updated to safer levels. I was informed that they would change everything out for me at no charge. Recall???
No, not a Takata type recall, just an updated part!

Finally back on the water! New engine with the updated 2015/2016 timing chain. Repair took a little over a month, but parts and labor was fully covered by Yamaha.

Now I just need to go through the break-in procedure again...
