I just bought a 2022 Yamaha AR195. Can I use gas from my local gas station?

Bob - I have a 2022 195S. I use 93 octane at a normal gas station. But I do add Sta Bil 360 Ethanol treatment each time.

If Bob hasn't filled his tank for 2 years, waiting for verification from us, then Bob really needs to sell his boat. He's also likely to be too timid to put his boat in the water because it might get wet, AND there's "things" in the water! o_O ? ?

More info is always better. Sassy pant.

I was actually looking for my next question in the thread and found this. Since nobody actually succinctly answered him, I did.

he doesn’t care what temperature the air is, how an engine works, or how much gas weighs. Just wanted to know what gas to use.

so - if you have an knowledge on using 93 with ethanol, or 90 ethanol free. I’d love to hear it.

So this didn't answer it, 2 years ago, in your mind?

195 SVHO requires premium.

You can use ethanol fuel
so long as you don’t keep the same fuel in there for months on end. I used it for years. Obviously non-ethanol is best but gas station fuel won’t hurt it.

The question is, what’s better.
93 with ethanol
Or 90 ethanol free.
Don’t care about price

What does the manual call for? Yamaha says 87 octane, no more than 10% ethanol, on my 1.8l NAs. That's what I run. Putting premium in would be a complete waste of money unless I'm storing the boat. That's what my manual says.

What does his manual say? It always boggles my mind that people invest so much money in something but can't be bothered to page through a manual for 20 minutes to learn about the product.

my manual says 91 at lowest. There is no 91. So I do 93. ??‍♂️

I just wonder if 90 no ethanol
Is just as good or better as 93 with octane

**** 93 with Ethanol

I do wonder though which is better.

That's an incomplete question.

Better for running? It won't matter, read your manual and put in what it is tuned for. You have a supercharged engine, and the manual states 91 or greater. So your engine will run 90 without issue, but it is rated for 91.
Better for storing? Always go non ethanol if at all possible, or get 91/ethanol and treat it for storage

Makes sense.
thank you.
So I will reserve the 90 ethanol free for end of year storage.
Thanks

2023 ar195 here. I use 93 ethanol free and " Boostane" octane booster/ stabilizer. Its a little pricey, but you don't need that much.

Wish I could find 93 ethanol free.
You probably don’t need the stabilizer do you? If gas is ethanol free?

I use Sta Bil ethanol treatment for the ethanol in my gas

Go Gas is the station I use at the North Carolina coast. I use Boostane just as an extra so she runs at top performance. Being an old gear head, it's what I do...:)

Makes sense.

Octane rating is more important than ethanol free. I wouldn't put 90 into anything that requires 91+ regardless of ethanol content.

I doubt you have issues with 10% ethanol over winter storage. Will take several years for that to turn into an issue with a modern FI engine.
