Your boat insurance only covers so much for "salvage" operations.. BoatUS does not cover pump outs, they will bill you for it, and it aint cheap.. mine was $2600 if I remember correctly.. If you have the capability to bail it your self do so, then let BoatUS tow it back in.. but the minute they put a pump in the boat, you are gonna get a huge bill that is not covered.. I found all this out the hard way..
So even you regular Boat insurance doesn't pay the tab? So BoatUS towing package not cover as well? I changed INS to progressive for the nautical since BoatUS ins did cover....but I had the towing.

Last year I brought a portable ballast pump....it pumps water like crazy...it was my backup with plugs to hit battery direct in case power wasn't moving to plug.

I investigated buying a huge portable pump as well when I was planning to go again..

Very nice idea!
yea, its beast....I use it as a hose to clean my boat off in the water since I'm very clean lake and leave in slip all summer.

I had the highest BoatUS coverage you could get, as well as my boat insurance.. the Boat insurance only covers 5% of your boat value (I think) for salvage operations, and BoatUS does not cover salvage, so not only do they bill you for the pump out, but the tow as well.. and the further they tow you the more it costs. I was only 1 mile out of Port Everglades inlet and my "Salvage" bill was $3600, after pitching a fit, and arguing with them, they reduced it to $2500...

here is the bill: http://www.ithrash.net/bin/Invoice.pdf

I am sitting in a conference in concord nc... my phone bath is already at 37 percent from checking constant updates on this page!!!

I am back on VHF duty (unless the phone rings). I suspect it will be quiet now except for that sub offshore and Navy Securite announcements

Man @Betik tracker still has them on the 15 mph pace they are getting close but fuel may become an issue for those guys on that pace.

Looks like he is about 8 miles out..
