Got the SX240 out of winter storage and noticed a small tear about 1.5 to 2 inches in the mooring cover.

Has anyone had good success with a product to repair a small tear like this?

Sewing on a patch will work. Cadet grey may be the color. A canvas worker patched our 07 mooring cover that had a hole in it. She did it for free, as we had her make our Bimini, bow and cockpit covers back 8 years ago. That patch would be easy. You should see the repair to a 20 yo Bimini that my wife is patching and reinstalling fasteners for an antique CrisCraft.

I know of no iron on or spray on product to fix this.

Iron on farbic patches (deim.twill) in Black, cut them round (to prevent the edges frpm peeling) bigger than the area and put one on the outside and one on the inside - works like a charm on bimini tops too, never had one come off.
Amazon maybe $4.

I used this product and it worked pretty good. I dind't sew it on but just cut two pieces and glued them together with the mooring cover in between if that makes sense.

I used gorilla tape in and out to get me through a season and to a new cover. Wouldn't bill it as a permanent repair, but it will keep it from getting worse and will hold a while.

I used Gorilla tape as well and it has held up a couple seasons. It's super thick and sticky, not like duct tape. I put it on the inside and outside and the only issue I had was some of the glue getting on the gel coat. Bought a new cover so won't have that issue anymore.

Curious if this is still holding. I attempted to back in to my storage unit spot yesterday and cut too hard and rubbed against the camper next to me and tore a hole in my cover. I just ordered some patches and just wanted to see how its holding up for you. Dont really want to buy a new cover after 7 weeks of owning the boat.

Still holding strong on the cover! The patches on the outside (bimini and cover) started off black but are now grey from the sun, but otherwise working well. (ran a black sharpie over the bimini one...not sure it looks much better, but its outside on top so i dont see it). the sun beat one one on the outside of the cover matches the grey/tan cover now much better.

Your other option (my back-up plan if the iron patches didnt work to my satisfaction) is to have it repaired at an upholtery shop (or even a dry cleaning place that does sewing) that makes bimi covers etc. They can use a patch of sunbrella material etc., except they will sew arond the perimeter of the patch material to the cover to make it pemanent.

Thats awesome. Im just hoping the patch isnt too obvious since my i told my wife i didnt need her help yesterday and then went ahead and tore the cover

Have you considered an "alternative" placement of the patch to limit the volume? ;) 😆

Gear Aid Tenacious Tape

This stuff is amazing

Ive used the glue on canvas patch with great results on multiple covers that we’ve trailered down the interstate with. Does it match? Nope, but it a cover doing its job and isn’t all ripped up and full of holes.

I have not experienced any fading thus far.
