My deposit 8/27/20 Yacht Blue 195S = I just say this on a facebook post - It had a picture of a 212SE????

" Just got word from my Yamaha dealer in northern CA that they (Yamaha) cancelled the delivery of 18 boats (mine being one of them) to my dealership. Their sister dealership in Southern CA apparently lost the delivery of 20 boats. Apparently Yamaha is having issues getting their engines out of Japan (that’s what the dealer said anyways).

Any info out there??? Is this as bad as it looks????? UGGGGGGH

Yikes! If that's the case, and I'm sorry for you if it is, but resale is about to head to the moon.

@malmana Man sorry to hear that, although it is the first time I have seen anything about cancellations etc.

Dang that sucks, hope that doesn’t happen to me... guess we will see.

My local dealer has only 1 2021 model available, they don't know if they will receive more before summer.

The supply chains of many industries are critically affected this year. Try to find a ktm dirt bike? They are pretty scarce due to low production. My motorcycle has a warranty approved instrument cluster replacement, but they don't know when it will be stocked.

Microchips for multiple industries are in short supply, auto manufacturers having to halt production lines... Automakers forced to cut production amid global shortage of computer chips

Large manufacturers have survived, but in some cases small 2nd and 3rd tier suppliers have gone bankrupt. It takes time to source new suppliers, establish production and ensure quality control. Not helping the whole production side is limited availability of shipping containers and massive increases in shipping costs, causing further delays even when product can be built or ressources identified.

Shortages in aluminum cans too. Soda shelves are getting bare. No ammo pretty much too. I guess this is all catching up. Fortunately plenty of cows and chickens. :)

So now my wife can't say I'm crazy for having a strategic ammo reserve! My obsession has been validated.

I think Yamaha decided to increase pwc production and decrease the number of boats it produced this year. I say this because there are a lot of 2021 waverunners available at almost every power sports dealership within 100 miles of the SF Bay Area, many of which advertise on CraigsList. It is hard to blame them for trying to maximize profit as I’m sure it costs a lot less to build a waverunner than a boat. All the waverunners I’ve seen with an 1812 cc engine have an msrp of over $12k, add another $2k if it’s supercharged.

I hope this all works out for you but if it were me I would be considering buying used and/or expanding my search area.

I haven’t seen the sell off I expected, yet and the yamaha boats i have seen for sale are usually severely overpriced.

Same. But this is just a repeat "I told you so" from 2008. :)

Regarding issues, the industry I work in has just been alerted that they are expecting a global fiber shortage. Acrylic, cotton, and wool. Hedge accordingly.

I have a friend with a separate safe for Ammo, claims to have 100,000 rounds various calibers.

Was told last week by the dealer that we would receive our 195S, hope they are right. Have a garage full of accessories and upgrades that need a home.

Hey Kgower:
I think you were the one purchasing from the Fredericksburg dealer? I visited the FBurg boat show Saturday, bored and wanted to just look around. Here is the paste and copy of my email received from my dealer in Woodbridge this morning. Did your guy give any time table, 1 weeks, several, not sure??? I doing the same with buying crap and also building a garage for the toy. If this was boat season dang I would be really going nuts!
My deposit was 8/27 - What date was your deposit?
Holla back and let's keep them on their game!!!

Morning Mark,
You are on the confirmed list of 11 presold boats before Yamaha started making cuts on the requested orders list. I did get cut 8 boats off the 28 I still had on order. They were the 195 & 210 FSH SPORTS. I have 20 left and of those I’ve just presold 6 since Saturday. I’m in the process of emailing my Yamaha Rep with the names of clients just like you that have deposits on certain models on that list and 3 for the 210 FSH SPORT. I feel we will get the boats that were still on my order, not so sure about the 210’s. I will be offering some of the unsold units for trade o
It will be another stressful season for sure, but

No time table given, but now I'm getting nervous. Our deposit wasn't until Black Friday. It was the last boat the dealer had on pre-order from August.

I was texting with my dealer this morning (about my mooring cover, delivery of which keeps getting pushed back) and I asked him about cuts to boat orders. He just said that yes Yamaha was not going to meet orders. Sorry, no other details but it's bad news all around--bummer for customers that want boats and bummer for dealers that need inventory to sell.

In checking with my dealer today they said that Yamaha is having to potentially cancel orders of FSH models with teal as they are having difficulty acquiring the color. Sorry no good news.

Those that are still looking, but not locked into a brand, the dealer I bought my boat from had a whole line of 2021 scarabs. Not sure what they were as they still had their shipping covers. There were also some AR's that didn't look to be sold yet, also still with shipping covers on. Best bet might be to try and swing a scarab. I will say their lot was JAMMED with boats. So other manufacturers don't seem to be having the problems Yamaha is.....it appears.

We looked at Scarab and am familiar with Rotax power plant from our SeaDoo PWC, big difference in price for the same size boat and small dealer network helped us to go with Yamaha.

Yup totally understand. I have an old 2 stroke seadoo as well as an old yamaha. The seadoo needs constant tinkering. The yamaha if it has gas/oil it's gonna run no question.
