My new to me 2019 242X is missing the port side storage net that goes adjacent to the port side bucket swivel seat. I have ordered the correct net (Yamaha direct confirmed the P/N by my HID#) twice now and both times a much larger net arrives. The net storage cubby looks like it's approximately 10 inches wide and nets I have received are approximately 24 inches by 8 inches. I’m wondering if I’m trying to install the net incorrectly or if there is some type of trick to get this to work. I have asked Yamaha for installation instructions and or pictures and they are little to no help as they don’t have many records for this part.

My ask, can someone please take some pictures of their net installed? Maybe add some basic measurements of the net, cubby area and where net hooks are located? I believe the net and storage area in general should be the same for all 242X and 242SE for year 2018-2020. Any helpful in formation would be greatly appreciated!

@drewkaree, its P/N 3F3-U4751-00 and its under "Deck Hull Fittings (#41). I have attached a picture of the diagram and the net I have received. Thank you for your and let me know if you have any additional questions.

The diagram and the Pic of the netting seems to indicate that there's 4 hooks that would slip into the corner loops of that netting. Is this the case?

If so, do you have all 4 hooks as well?

It would seem like the bottom is open, would an adhesive netting pocket work better for you? I've seen others here, showing those added to their boats for small item storage where their boats didn't have these, like yours offered

the picture shows it to be long in width and short in height but it seems much taller. I'm not near the boat but will measure it later in the week.

I use this as the garbage pail it it covers the face very close to the handles

Mine was missing when I got my 242X and I too ordered an OEM one from Yamaha Sports Plaza. The net is so big it doesn't stay in place, unless you have something large in that space keeping it tight. Not happy about it either.

@drewkaree, yes I do have 4 hooks and they about 10 inches apart in both directions. Ideally, I just want a net that stays in place and that is functional. If I could take the net I ordered and made the length about 9 inches and kept the height the same, in theory it should work. I tried doubling the net to form a net pocket and that didn't work either. It was still too long or too high depending on the installation orientation.

@Cambo, thank you and this kaddy can looks like it will fit the space I have as long as its the small 10 pound version. Great solution for trash can!

@ToddW850, I spoke with someone who used to work at a dealership when our boats were new. He said they were always way too big and no one could figure out how they were supposed to be installed. When prepping the boats for sale, they used to put the nets in the glove box and hope the new owner wouldn't ask about them.

I never use mine and it might be laying around somewhere - I’ll take a look.

If I can find it you can have it if still interested.

That's hilarious! Because I can totally see that. We'll put a beach bag there sometimes and it's wide enough to keep the net in place. I like the trash can idea from @Cambo too. But like you, I just want the net tight enough that I can actually use it without it falling down.

Maybe this thread you started will come up with some ideas to make that happen :winkingthumbsup"

WhenI had my 242X, I used the same charcoal pail that @Cambo mentioned for a garbage can, and kept it behind that net. I kind of remember that the net was just barely tight enough to hold the garage can in place. Without the garbage can the net was just floppy and wouldn’t stay connected.

@whiskyDan, thank you! I would love to see if it's the same size as the one I have or smaller. I would gladly pay for the ride if you find it.

it's an odd space.
thread with a yeti cooler placed there..
yeti backflip

i ditched the net and picked up a cheap backpack cooler to leave there as a trash can ...cut the rear straps off, stiched on some velcro tabs, screwed in some brackets and put down some foam mat.
not great pics, but it stays in boat and we use small trash bags inside.

30 can cooler

i'd get the 45 can version if i was doing it again.
