Re-naming an older Catamaran

Another slant to consider...our Beneteau was named Pa`na`na, my wife's Hawaiian name. She is also Ali'i. So sticking with Hawaiian canoe types I found here Types of Hawaiian Canoe | Hawaii | He Make'e Wa'a , Kakaka fits, but sounds like kaka, lol. Kialua also fits in the double hulled canoe theme. Problem is, nobody will know what it means, similar to Panana on the Bene.

I always thought Panana sound like a Grandma name.

I like the idea of a Hawaiian inspired name better than a cat name. I imagine every good cat name is overused on catamarans.

I was also thinking of a name related to the farm. Blueberry Fields Forever

Cat Scratch Fever…
And you all can thank me now for going to bed with that song playing in your head :singing:

ʻAi ʻai
Lelele Jack Cat
Me Waapa Ponoi

(ah, they are better in English, methinks)

Nine Lives was another from me.
Paw De Deux was from her.

I vote for the paw de dodo she came up with.

A little clarification on that name. My wife was a ballet dancer in her teens, at PCS, while living in NYC in the 70's. She is still a dancer at heart. Not to be confused with stripper. Lol Her play on this was Paw instead of Pas, as we have two dogs, a male and female that will be with us. Deux, the two of us, the dogs and the hulls. It would fit better if we had cats, but we are dog people.

Still looking for a name.

This is a fun thread to read, and not to be a buzzkill, but I would caution that some folks forget that names need to be clearly understood when one is talking on the VHF. This is especially true in transit (talking with a lock master, bridges, etc.) or other boaters.

Regarding, folks not understanding a Hawaiian name, perhaps a graphic along with the name would help? I named my last little sailboat Coqui, after the Puerto Rican frog, and my wife made a cutout of a frog to go with the vinyl lettering she made for the boat.
