Hi All,

Thinking about stepping up my fishing efforts lately, and was wondering if anybody has placed a large cooler in the ski locker to store bait and/or any catch? Looking for a something pretty big. Anybody else try this silly idea? For a minute, I thought about filling the whole ski locker with ice and letting the bilge pump it out as it melted away....but that's more ice than I need. Lol.

Hey @ClemsonTiger. I'll be in the Keys next week. If the winds are good, I'd like to do some offshore trolling for Mahi and Tuna. Also like to anchor outside the reefs and chum up some Yellowtail and Grouper. Just bought some vertical jigs...like to give them a try too.

I just bought a set of rod holders...one for each side of the boat from Samson Sport that I will bolt to the tower. That should give me two lines there. Then I'm going to rig the table leg on the transom so I can run a deep diving plug like the X-ray Magnum down the middle for a total of three lines. I have some custom boat rods with matching Penn reels for that. I bought the triple rod holders from Samson so that I can bring some lighter spinning gear for the Yellowtail and other snapper. Also have some 7 foot Penn Battle II combos that I'll use for the vertical jigs.

Actually @ClemsonTiger , I appreciate the advice. Much rather have that cooler full of fish than just ice and bait! I like your idea of the daisy chains. My dad used to have a chain of squid that was his favorite lure. Spreader bar is another great idea, just not sure it's worth going through the trouble considering I may not troll iat all if wind is not cooperating .

Didn't realize tuna were that line shine. 150-200 yds behind the boat far enough?

Love pitching baits in the weedline. Usually cast a bucktail with a medium ballyhoo. I'll give the YO-ZURI's a try. I've heard good things, but never gave them a shot. I will now.

Thanks again for the info. If you're ever down in the Keys...give me a shout. Maybe we can get together and do some fishing! We're in Islamorada. Going down next week, June, and August.

Rob
