Switching Between Synthetic and Dino Based 2 Cycle Oil

The articles I find online say it's fine to switch mid-tank from standard 2 cycle oil to a synthetic oil. I have a direct injection Sugar Sand Mercury sport jet so it's not pre-mix. Anyone have an opinion or experience on whether this is a good idea?
