Hey guys, I figured I would start a build thread for my SX210. I am bit bored at the moment so figured I would start this in planning stage and get some input from you guys.

Final Product plans include 3 JL Audio LED MX650 (2 sets in factory location and a set in the middle of the boat) and one pair of M770s on the swim deck. For the sub stage I have two JL Audio 10IB5s I plan on using. I think I will be using them in the stern compartments (behind driver seat and with battery) facing the bow.

I am curious if anyone has done this set up, and if so, how did it work out?

I haven't decided on amps yet, but I think I will end up with a Kicker KXM800.8 and a KXM800.5. The speakers in the boat will be ran off the 800, and the 770s bridged from the 800.5, and the subwoofers from the 800.5 subwoofer channel. This will leave me with one extra channel that I save for whatever the occasion, or if I want to bridge a set of the MXs.

I already have a second battery, and have ordered a second battery switch to isolate the battery for the stereo when the boat is off.

I'll stop here for now, any thoughts, recommendations, tips or advice before I get the project rolling?

@adrianp89 funny, Im in the same boat, no pun intended....picking out equipment for phase 2 of my audio upgrades.

I like the speaker choice , cant go wrong with JL which is what I am running as well. Those 6.5s are nice and the 7.7s on the rear will scream.

My only concern is the amp choice. I know some swear by kicker and I've heard some nice systems from them including my buddies eliminator with horns, but I think for the speakers you choice it might be worth looking into other amps to give you some extra headroom on the power, given those amps seem to only kick out 50w @ 14.4, so that's kinda low for the MX650s. I'm running 8 of them off a M800/8 so they're getting 60w @ 12.5 & 75 @ 14.4.

Plenty of options out there, JL, Westsounds, Rockford, and a few others, but besides that should bang.

Also not sure what JL IB subs you have but I would want some headroom on those as well to make sure the amps run cool and you can bang all day.

Will sound great once your done though, looking fwd to some pics. Good luck!

Cant wait to get started on my upgrades!!

Thats my Exact set up but i got all Frankenstein and mounted pods as well. I am running 2 6 channel JL amps. Even without a wake board there are only a few that are as loud and clear as mine.

@adrianp89 where on the swim deck do you plan on installing speakers?

I can completely agree. The wattage is my biggest issue, I know Kicker is notorious for under rating but would feel better with more power. With that being said, I can get Kicker gear for 65% off, so I lean heavily in their direction lol.

My last stereo build in a car was built around tons of power and high efficiency. Three amps and six speakers later (including subs) it still is one of the loudest and best sounding cars I’ve heard. I had a video similar to drift aways and it sounded very similar (from what I can tell from a video lol).

I love everything about this build, any pics of the third set of 6.5?

How many batteries are you running with this setup? What are your voltage readings after sitting a couple of hours with the boat off and tunes on? I'm running 1000 watts rms with my 6 wet sounds 6.5's and my tower speakers on my factory interstate batteries that came with my 17' ar240. At the end of the day I'm reading around 12.2. I'm thinking about keeping my wet sounds htx-6 amp and swapping out my rockford for another 6 channel amp and adding 4 more speakers and a sub but I'm worried about adding another 800-1000 watts to my existing batteries and draining them quicker.

Great thread!

I am upgrading my system also over the off season.

I have a couple questions

Has anyone cut spots in their mid cabin area for 6.5 inch speakers on a 212ls?

Also any recommendations for getting the JLs to fit into the factory spots on the swim platform.

I am currently running all Jl mx650 6 total with a jl 6 channel amp.

I plan on adding a jl 10inch sub in a box, 7.7 in the rear of the boat and moving my 6.5 to mid cabin.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations

I am running just the stock 2. Before the pods and the 7.7s i use to have to crank it to get sound out to the beach. But once i put those in i could turn it down a little cause it carried so far saving some juice. It drops down to 11.2 or so after a few hours of jamming

Not sure about your model but for the SX240 i had to have the rear seats cut off about 6" to get them to fit.

Any issues with having the speakers so low to your feet?

Nope not a bit. Just make sure you look behind the wall on the driver side there are alot of wires and cables behind it

On my ar240 I only had the throttle cables behind the area that I cut. Had the wife hold them back from the storage area.

I bought a holesaw kit from harbour freight for $20. I believe I used the 5". Just remember to start the drill in reverse for a couple spins to get a nice clean hole.

Got to have a nice clean hole (Phrasing) lol i just used a Dremel tool on mine. I could not find a hole saw big eoungh

Also if your handy with a drill, hold a shop vac next to your bit while drilling. Keeps it clean, fiberglass can make a mess.

If your system aint eoungh get a wet sounds wet link and pair up with another jet boat. Thats both boats linked up playing the same song using wet sounds A link

Well, I one of the IB5s I received ended up being an IB3. So I will continue my search for a second.

Just did a trade for some used M770s that should be here in a day or two, without providing details, I'll just say I got them dirt cheap compared to retail. Not the grilles I want, but at the price I do not mind lol.

I am striking out on buying used. The M770s ended up being just the woofer of the componenet set, that was my fault for not paying attention. So going to try to sell those.

On a positive note, I got the 4 JL MX650s installed yesterday. We went out Saturday for the first time in a while and forgot how bad the factory ones were. I did not hook up the LEDs yet but they were a huge improvement.

Install was a breeze, it took me about 30 minutes for all four, including clean-up. For any one interested you just need a drill, phillips bit, a 1/8th drill bit, and a plastic panel tool (makes things eaiser) The factory speaker grilles you need to push in twist counter clock wise about 45 degrees and then used the plastic panel tool to pop it off. Unplug the speaker, plug in the new one and align it how you want, then drill your pilot holes and then screw in the new screws. Super easy.

I failed on taking pictures but I’ll get some more when I do the LED s next week.
