You didn’t offend me at all, you’re one that in my opinion has not acted arrogantly through this whole thread from what I recall and I’ve quite enjoyed the interaction we’ve had. I was referring to others. And I’m not insecure whatsoever in decisions I’ve made. I simply meant that those who are acting so arrogantly in an attempt to persuade others should reconsider their tactics because it is not at all persuasive.

I have been critical of how both sides have acted in this forum but as someone who served in the marines in combat multiple times I am not sure what a DD -214 has to do with this discussion. I know I didn’t serve so that others “owe” me something (quite the opposite). And actually speaking of military service, I was injected with all kinds of shit that I didn’t know what it was before Deployments.
That said I waited to get the vaccine. I was “skeptical” but ultimately weighed risk vs reward and got it. My wife was very opposed to it. Well, now she has Covid (luckily so far very very mild) but seeing her freak out about potentially having to go to the hospital when she found and felt bad reinforced my decision to get it and any booster needed.
Again, won’t shame anyone who feels differently. Just my view on this shitty situation

In all seriousness though, I'm not sure how this became so political but damn did it. And considering that, the best way to reach those who are resisting getting injected would be to bring President Trump into the picture to promote it. He is very much in favor of it and would promote the hell out of but for some reason no media will involve him in the promotion of it.
I do wonder though...why the July spike, two years in a row. Prior respiratory virus' were mostly prevalent in colder months. This seems to have large spread in the middle of summer after waining in the late spring and again in the early fall. I'm sure there's data for this but haven't found it yet.

Never said anyone owed me anything that I can recall but if you show me the post I will stand corrected. Only brought up my military service when I was called unpatriotic, unamerican, comrade, not caring about my fellow Americans etc etc etc.
I have seen a patriot on here shamed using patriotism. How sad is that.
@jawsf16, I deeply respect that you have spent your life flying for our country. Why so negative about vaccination? Do you not see it as another way of doing what is right for all Americans?
These are just a few of the names I have been called just for having a different opinion then someone else. As a Marine would you be OK with them adjectives if they were thrown your way? Most Marines I know would have a robust response for that particular individual if they were standing in front of them. Would you not respond that you have served your country and them adjectives are offensive to you? These slurs are only designed to demean someone because the poster cannot control his anger at not being agreed with on every subject. If you are OK with being described as unamerican. unpatriotic, comrade and tongzhi (evidently it means comrade in Chinese still confused about that one) you are a better man then me. Why can't people have robust debate without resorting to name calling and breath holding. Are we not adults. I have only treated people with respect until I was insulted and then responded in kind.
I hope your wife comes through her covid experience without any complications. I will put in a good word for her on Sunday. My son had covid and was sick for a few days. Mostly low grade fever and some body aches. Lost his sense of smell and taste for a couple weeks. Thank the lord he is fine now.

I get your view on this, as I get theirs. I will never question the patriotism of anyone who served this country in any branch but also put zero weight behind those who haven’t calling out the patriotism of others. Plus I think there are many ways to “serve” that don’t require military experience (doctors, teachers, etc)
I am a firm believer that many of these discussions that turn hostile wouldn’t if you were sitting across from the table from the other person. One because the threat of real conflict is something most keyboard warriors would shy away from but second, people generally are more conscientious in person (even if they disagree).
I don’t condone any name calling or questioning of people’s character (that they haven’t met) but also am curious why people are so against this vaccine while not against 1000 other things that are known to be worse (alcohol, cigarettes, etc)
My first reaction to my wife telling me she has Covid and was scared wasnt sympathy, it was anger at her for being “scared” of a vaccine. But again, just glad so far it is very mild.
Eh, I disagree. From what I've seen it's the media pushing the political aspect of this. In my small circle (completely anecdotal I understand) I don't see much of a difference in people's opinion of the mRNA injection between political parties. I have both liberal and conservative friends that have had the injection and I have both liberal and conservative friends who want more info on it before getting injected. It seems more like the the media is turning this into a litmus test for conservatives. I really don't think that conservatives care whether or not people or politicians promote the mRNA injections or not. What they care about is whether or not someone is going to take their individual liberties from them and force them to be injected. And on that front, DeSantis and President Trump are on the side of conservatives. So in my opinion, it would be a win win to get President Trump and Gov. DeSantis out there promoting it and I think it would sway conservatives who are on the fence.

Do you actually know what goes into vaccines? any vaccine?
Do you know what RNA is? Is it bad? vs a protein? or a peptide? or an adjuvant? lipopolysaccharide? Do you know what those terms mean?
