Thoughts and demo rides of wake / towsports boats: Moomba Max, Axis A22, MB Sports

Here's a nice walk through video of the new Moomba Makai. As you can see this boat is freaking massive with nice, deep storage everywhere. IMO this is one of the best wake boats you can get in the 80k-100k+ -rice range. Great looks, tall freeboard, deep storage, hinged seats and great performance.

@haknslash So when are you pulling the trigger?

Still saving up my 10% down payment and I'd like to save for a year or two worth of marina storage as well since I wouldn't be able to keep it in the garage like I can my 192. I'll likely take a loss on my boat and just trade it in. Maybe sometime late next season unless I just happen to run across a killer deal.

Good luck man, that’s one nice looking boat! It’s will be about 5 years till I make the jump for now the mods will continue.

Man, I love this boat. It is taking everything I got to not call and ask for details. Need to wait one more year...need to wait one more year...

The new Craz Pro is a really nice boat. One of my favorite things about the Max, Helix and Makai interior is the offset dash and Im glad it made it over to the Craz Pro as well. Visibility is great with an offset dash in these boats! Best of all it comes with Flow 3.0 which if you look close you can see the extra actuator on each surf tab. Not only can you control the vertical attitude of the surf tabs but you can also control the inner corners of the tabs with the secondary actuator, allowing you even further wave adjustability to your preference. If you haven’t looked at them in person just wait until you see it lol. Even though it’s a price point wake boat I think you’ll like the quality and fit/finish of the boat. I know the feeling as I’m trying to hold off on buying a much older used boat as I really like the newer Moomba and dealer support for them is really good in my area.

Here I’ll make it a little harder on ya :D

Yes I really like the features of the pro model too. My only reserve about the craz is the traditional pionted bow. Wished it were wider. I think I could squeeze it in my garage too which would be nice

I hear ya. How many people do you typically have with you? If a little more bow room is wanted you could look into the Mojo. It is a little less pointy than the Craz but not full-on pickle forked. It's also a foot longer boat so not sure if that would make it harder to fit in your garage. I'm envious you can store a Craz in yours! I would settle for a Mondo if it meant I could get it to fit in my garage.

If you really wanted a wide bow in a Moomba you'll have to go with the more boxy looking Max or Helix as those are 102" wide beam and huge, wide bow like a play pin which is one of the things I like about them aside from how deep they are. I know the boxy styling isn't for everyone though but they are the widest Moomba's available.

The Moomba owner's manual (yes it's probably a bad sign I read through their owner's manual not even owning their boat :D) has a nice little image of their boats with circles representing human bodies. Gives you a rough idea of how people would fit on the boat if maxed out...

@haknslash its usually my wife and my son. We do bring people out with us often but usually one family at a time. So usually 7 to 8. Max would be 9 when my sister and parents are with us. Interested the craz is the only model with pointed bow. Maybe it will be redesigned soon? Take the hull from the Supra SA maybe?

You'd be fine with the Craz with that crew. It's a pretty spacious boat. This guy is over 6' tall and gives a good reference for bow space. I'm not sure when the next redesign will be though.

Like @haknslash said it’s around 4200 with 3,000lbs standard ballast. Crazy to think loaded down and ballasted up you’d be pushing over 8,000 lbs through the water.

And that's just stock ballast numbers. Most people will at minimum upgrade to even larger capacity bags for the rear, add some extra bow ballast and the boat throws an incredible wave you could surf wayyyy back. Check out this guys dialed in 2016 Craz wave...

Well I may be wrong, but I think it would fit. My doors are 9' wide by 8' tall. The garage is deep but wonder if doors are big enough now. Do you know what size door would be required to squeeze one of these boats in?

Not sure what the height is for the new Craz Pro since it uses a new tower this year. Best bet would be to go to a dealer and take measurements. Also these wake boat dealers (the good ones at least) will even bring a boat to your house to see if it will fit, so there's always that option to be certain what you would be dealing with for your perticular garage.

I know that previous year Craz you could squeeze them into a 8' garage height but it required removing the board racks. Here's some dimensions a 2016 Craz owner took for his boat when he brought it home....

7' 10" - Height with tower folded and bolts out of board racks (so I could slide them down)
8' 11 1/2" - Wide using guideposts. May be able to squeeze another inch or 2 if you need it by taking the guideposts off.
24' 6" - Long with the platform on

@haknslash throw some lead in it!

Fo sho! That perticular wave he was using 400 lbs of steel shot under the bow cushions in addition to 500 lbs IBS.

From what I've read it seems anywhere from 9-10 degree pitch and 3-5 degree roll with Autowake settings is optimal attitude for the Craz to make a great wave. That and of course lots of weight!
