Son of a gun!
I'm not sure it will be easy for me to find a driver to duplicate this stunt.
My Pali heater seems to be working so I will definitely be trying it. I even got myself a new neoprene hood!

Just got finished checking out the new Makai and man that boat is gorgeous and so much bigger than it looks over the internet! I didn’t get great pics of it as we were just talking most of the time and catching up. They are paying for my tickets to the upcoming boat show. Love working with this dealer I tell ya!

Also looked at a Max they have that’s optioned out about how I like it. I love the Brittany Blue flake a lot!!

To explain the size of the Makai is hard but even in this pic it looks like it dwarfs the Max sitting behind it...and the Max is a HUGE bit itself!!

This was posted today on the Makai

That boat's pretty sick. I like the all-around nature of Yamahas, but if I was going to look for a wakeboat, that seems awesome. Drivers seat and controls look really well thought out. Tons of storage!

Nice how much they asking for the Makai?

I think he said it was in the high 80's. It was pretty well optioned out. It's a little hard to tell from the pic but the top gelcoat was in black flake and man did it pop against the red and all black hull! The boat has amazing lines you can really appreciate once seeing it in person. He did say that after taking the Makai out multiple times now he suggest people get the 450 engine instead of the 400 w/ surf prop. It's a big 24.5" boat carrying 4k lbs of ballast stock + gear + people and he said an owner would enjoy the boat much more with the 450 engine. He said one guy demoed the Makai with the 40o and wasn't impressed with performance and almost gave up on the boat. They then went to their other dealership that had a Makai with the 450 and the guy signed papers that day. When I demoed the Max with the 400 engine w/ surf prop it felt perfectly suited for that boats size even though it was running 3k lbs ballast and two adult men. He agreed the 40o engine is more than fine for the Max at our elevation even if I wanted to run 1500 lbs more ballast than stock. The Max is 2' shorter than the Makai and nearly 1k lbs lighter so makes sense the 400 seemed fine in the Max.

The price sheet he gave me for the blue and white Max was at 78k with everything except AutoWake and gator step flooring. It had a few options that I would have left off though and replaced them with G6 ballast and AutoWake to save cost. Thankfully they do pre-wire each tower regardless if you get tower speakers or not so that's good to know if I wanted to get my own speakers. However all new Moombas come with WetSounds speakers now so they are putting in good stuff. If income taxes come back nice I might be putting a deposit down to have one built. Lead time is anywhere from 8-12 weeks depending on when I were to order and how far along the build slots I would be. When it gets in the spring I'm going back out on the Max for a surf demo. I'm not brave enough for the winter cold waters like @swatski is :D

Here’s the build sheet on that Max...

If I were building mine I wouldn't get the swivel tower racks since the Max bimini option has surf storage pockets not to mention there's tons of storage enough for boards in the rear lockers or even in the helm storage. I would option out the boat setup as a surf machine with G6 ballast (6 pumps), surf/wake prop, AutoWake, Flow 2.0 surf system, GPS Cruise with Zero Off, add Gator step flooring, bimini, pop-out cleats, cover, depth finder and I'm set several grand cheaper allowing me to build a stereo system how I'd like for likely far less money later on down the road. Here's a build I put together with those options and a kind of different than your norm gelcoat scheme and interior...

Ok cool. Yeah that upgrade from the 400 to the 450 is a pretty pricey upgrade. Isn’t it a different tune or something and that’s it? From what I have read the 400 seems to work well in the 22’ boats. Also, doesn’t the makai have a different trans gear ratio? Seems I read somewhere it was 1.7:1 where the other boats are 1.5:1.

The 400 gets the 1.5:1 and the 450 gets the 1.76:1 gear ratio. Even though it's not listed on their website I think you can even option in the 575 in the Makai only and I think it comes with 1.5:1 gear ratio.

I asked about the 450 and he told me it is more than just a tune. He said a different intake. I'm not sure if he meant intake manifold or air intake. The 450 requires higher fuel octane (and different oil grade) like the Spercharged 575, so it's possible it might be running different compression ratio than the 400 but I really have no idea. In the past the 44o engine was basically a 4oo with a little hotter tune, so that's maybe what you're thinking about. Below is the Inmdar engine lineup to give you an idea of performance numbers. Note the octane and oil grade changes once you get the 450+.

Ah yes, I thought there were only 3 options. Maybe the 400 and 440 are same but only a tune. I don’t recall seeing the 460 listed as an option when building Supra’s.

The 400/440 were the Moomba boat engine options prior to 2019. They don't call it a 460. I think that's actually a typo in Indmar's website. The engine numbers are based in the torque output ;)

Oh ok gotcha

Added some pics for ya up above. He told me they just picked up one of their boats earlier in the week to take it to the ATL show. I think they are planning on displaying the Craz Pro, Makai and maybe the Max at the Birmingham show along with a handful of Supra's and MC's.

Cool Thanks. Yep I’m mainly interested in checking out the Moombas, Tige R series, Supreme’s and then Centurion and Supra which are more for fun haha.

I'm hoping the Centurion/Supreme dealer here will have one of the new ZS series Supreme boats on display. Yea I hear ya on looking at the Supra and Centurion for fun lol. They cost a pretty penny but look and feel high end for sure. Hope you have a great time and looking forward to what you see and think about the Moomba's. I really do think they are one of the top price point wake boat manufacturer's. The Makai looked a felt almost like a hybrid Moomba/Supra boat. Really nice boat but I think for me the Max checks off more boxes.

@haknslash I do not have GPS cruise on my new Helix and it pulls buttery smooth, so definitely not a must have if you are trying to lower cost.

Long time service pro told me 400 and 440 are identical other than tune.

@spatty99 Yea the 440 was just a hotter tune. The new 450 is a bit different I believe. The Max I test drove didn't have GPS cruise assist either but I figured if I were going to option it out for all surf goodies might as well include the Zero Off. How you liking your Helix so far? Any pics of it on the water or wave?
