Tons of problems with my 195

@Elio195HOI Thank you for the info.. My dealer was the same. No clue about the new boat line, but they did work with BRP to get my issue resolved. I had my engine replaced after 14 hours. Locking nut on the impeller came off and damaged the main bearing. Thank goodness it happened in the fall, they had the boat most of the winter..

Its sad to hear how Scarab has released these boats. These dealers have no clue, and probably wont in the future. Scarab should have contacted BRP authorized dealers, or SeaDoo dealers to sell these boats. In the end, the brand will suffer, and probably go defunct once again. Piss Poor execution.

Dealers like MarineMax are not Authorized BRP, and never will be. They are owned by Brunswick Corporation which is a direct BRP competitor with their Mercury line of motors and boats like Sea Ray, Boston Whaler, and Bayliner.

These boats would be better served to be sold with SeaDoo PWC's, and CAN AM Trikes. Yamaha sells their boats like this, and its mostly a home run.

This community will probably serve as the best source for the new lineup of BRP powered boats for a long time. But dont wait for Scarab Corporate representation here. They have already told me that they have no time to keep up with this community.

@Karl Clements, wow what a story. I just read the whole thing. I may have missed this but are you still without a boat? That is crazy! You have a lot more patience than I do. Good man

Are you jumping ship? the 2016 Yamaha's are a comin' !!

@ScarabMike Its funny you say that, MarineMax was trying to get me to trade in the Boat for a Sea Ray Vs Repairing the Scarab or replacing for a new one. I didn't know they were not authorized BRP dealers, Good to know. Being I purchased the boat from them, can any BRP authorized dealer work on the boats warranty issues if needed?

@Murf'n'surf cost vs value. Ill leave it there. Not looking to upgrade just yet. Cant leave my Scarab brethren. :)

@Elio195HOI Typical. Ive only seen one MM store (Stuart, FL) that actually cares and makes an effort to ask questions, and help the customer. Most don't give a rats ass about the little jet boats. They have Sea Rays to sell. Heck, the store here in Jax just gave me the BUDS computer, and said go out there and reset your maintenance clock. Sad.

I completely agree that Scarab did a poor job in rolling out this new line of jetboats. I have found very few dealerships that are selling these boats that our knowledgeable with the Scarab line. It's frustrating when your spending a lot of money on a boat and the dealership can't answer the simplest of questions. I'm happy that I have found a great dealer, unfortunately it's not the one where I bought the boat.

This is so interesting.. I've been very frustrated with my 195hoi. I purchased from marine max at the January boat show and I have a water test with BRP and the GM of my local marine max on weds morning. Hoping they buy it back-- crazy how frustrating this whole process has been

@luke anderson Its very frustrating, but at the end of the day, it truly is a great boat once all the bugs are out. Its an absolute Blast once you get all the potential out of it. I would only trade it in for one of the bigger models despite the piss poor customer service and lack of intelligence. Hope it works out for you, At one point i wished they would take the damn boat back as i felt they robbed me blindly. Once BRP took care of it, Im happy Marine Max didnt take it back. Now, lets wait a few months and see if i still fell the same way....... :) Good Luck!

@Elio195HOI i really want to love my boat!!' I'm hoping they figure oit what is wrong. It absolutely is one one of the best looking machines on the water and is a blast to drive-- i just need to be able to pull up a wakeboarder here and there and it won't do that today! I'm thinking its the seal between hill and jet pump but marine max has said they tested that and it was fine.

I was at the boat launch over the weekend and I heard someone from shore say, "WoW! Look at that boat leaving, I think it is a Scarab!" I have had a lot of complements and by far I think it is one of the sharpest looking boats. But, @luke anderson is right, it can be the nicest looking boat on the water being towed by BoatUS or what ever tow service you have in your area. It just isn't right!20150711_145518.jpg

Here's a video of my 195 HOI pulling me up on the wake board! You can hear the cavitation -- pretty bad. The BRP tech and scarab tech took back to dealership to work on, no updates at this point. At least they acknowledged there's a problem here. Definitely not within spec!

Definitely something wrong....

Same thing my boat was doing, but only after 30 minutes of use, Then the check engine light would flash and would go over 12 mph all the way back to Dock. This went on for several months until BRP took care of it.

@Elio195HOI -- do you know what BRP ended up doing to fix it? Mine does it right away and doesn't go into limp mode

Mine was doing the same thing and the supercharger inlet pipe was off slightly.

I'm not saying this to be a jerk or start something but this thread is one of the major reasons I chose Yamaha. One manufacturer for everything and Yamaha makes sure the dealers can work on them. A few years back my Yamaha dealer who I bought my snowmobiles from had his boat franchise yanked by Yamaha because he wasn't a dedicated marine dealer. Still sells the sleds, bikes and PWC lines but no boats. Coming with a lot of experience from the sled world BRP wasn't known for great reliability there either. They seem to follow suit in al their lines, their sleds are fast, light and look like a million bucks, especially when getting towed back with a Yamaha. Good luck with your boat, I still like the looks and interior of the scarab line more then my boat they are awesome looking boats.

Just heard from marine max tech -- they determined the engine was mounted in the wrong spot in the hull and have ordered all new parts. New impeller, wear ring-- basically a new jet pump assembly. Should have parts in next week and will work to fix by next weekend-- more hopeful than I have been thus far-- funny that the engine was in the wrong spot. That seems elementary....
