I came across a 2016 Scarab 165 "limited edition" on FB marketplace and noticed a bar behind the middle seat. I asked the seller what it was and he said it was factory bar for "towing tubes". I asked him to provide more photos of the install but no dice, its in storage of course. Has anyone seen one of these? Here is the listing and ill attach photos as well. Thanks. Lol I'll let you test that feature out.

If that is indeed what it is, and I have no doubt that it is, I would take a close look at that area, above and below. There could be significant wear or damage if the seller actually used it for towing.

You have to climb over that thing every time to get to the transom? Yeouch

Protruding for your pleasure! Lol

It's a non issue. Either side is pretty high when you climb over it. So it's not in the way. The 165 isn't well designed for getting to the transom regardless of that thing.

I use it often to put the ski rope handle hooked on there temporarily. Once in position, I grab and throw it to the skier. My passengers are usually not competent of handling the rope but can act as a spotter. It's pretty handy for that.

I've also noticed my wife grab onto it while transferring from or to the transom. Provided a grip.

Hah. A rubber cap would be nice since it looks somewhat sharp but hard to tell from pictures.

That's for extra pleasure! ;) It does have a plastic cap that's rounded. In fact, mine kept coming out. I ended up adding some tape on the inside to make sure it doesn't move.

This is not the best design that's for sure. But it does work to add some shade. Nowhere near as good as a bimini which is what they went to after this.

The cap makes more sense. The color scheme on that boat for sale is pretty slick.
