I am looking to replace my head unit soon and have really had my heart set on the Fusion 700ip. I really like the internal ipod dock and have heard the ipod interface is very fast as far as accessing playlist, etc. Has anyone used their remotes on the transom with any success? I have gone without a transom remote for years now, but tired of climbing in and out of the boat. I'd consider another brand if someone has had really good luck with something else. I have also considered going without a headunit all together and going strictly to bluetooth using my 420BT, but I don't want to lose sound quality associated with direct ipod connection.

Sorry.....meant to put this in electronics. Mods feel free to move.

I'm sorry to say I can be of no help with this one...my original head unit and remotes work just fine. ;)

Of course I've installed all kinds of whiz bang amps, speakers and EQ's and other stuff to make it more enjoyable, so I got that going for me.

Which is nice.

From time to time I think about putting something more sophisticated in the boat, but it doesn't pass muster with the CFO. So, I'll just keep plugging along:cool:

Clarion M303 with MF1 RF remote 100 ft range and waterproof and MW1 wired transom remote. Everything works great!!

Ok.....let's get a little more specific......really the only two units right now on my radar are the clarion CMD8 and the Fusion ip700. Thanks for your input @jcyamaharider. I like the idea of having a rf wireless as well as the wired on the transom. I am assuming that your transom remote takes a beating with all of the wake sports you do. I boat in saltwater so it's a pretty harsh environment back there. Anyone have a Fusion remote on the transom? Anyone use the CMD series that can tell me how well the ipod interface works? The unit I have now works just fine, it's just a one line scrolling display so it is slow to scroll through playlist, etc.

It is under water alot. Both are great products and I am sure either would serve it's purpose for years to come.

I just replaced my stereo system with the fusion bb300r black box and 2 nrx200i remotes. I get comments about the remote all the time. It's a must have! Waterproof, 3-4 zone control, and 3 year warranty. I have heard mixed reviews about the 700i. Phones have overheated and u have no access to the phone while docked internally. I prefer just using the Bluetooth option. Either way, go with Fusion if u can afford it.

@jcyamaharider ......thanks again. Great info and exactly what I was looking for.

@chesbay007 ......I would be using an ipod, not an iPhone so I'm not terribly concerned with overheating. My wife's iPhone will overheat just sitting in the boat, much less enclosed in a unit. That's why I have Samsung.

I'm just totally up in the air between these two. I want quick access to the ipod features and a good remote that can take some abuse. I also read that with the CMD8, you can still use the ipod itself to access the playlist, artist, songs etc. You don't have to use the interface on the radio. Not to mention, I can get the unit, a wired remote and an rf remote for about the same as the Fusion. I just love the idea of the ipod tucked away. ........ugggggghh

Have you seen the new Fusion MS-UD750? I like the fact that you can change the connectors when you upgrade your phone in the future. The price is not that much more than the 700, right around $500 shipped. I will probably replace my stock head unit next spring with the 750.

@jeremy0011 .......I have taken a quick look at the new Fusion units, but I was trying not to spend $500+ on a headunit that I really don't NEED right now. I have seen a few deals pop up on the 700 series that are a little more in my budget.

Agree they are all more than I want to spend. If I can get the 700 for the right price it’s a no brainer for me also. The best price I have seen on the 700 is around 450 shipped.
