I't at the point of deciding what brand and what color underwater led's I should install on my Cobalt R5. The brand I can take care of, I'm leaning towards Diablo trim table mount led's that are 133 watts 8000 lumens, see two pictures. Yes I'm about to put trim tabs on my boat, I have to be able to keep up with @1948Isaac .

Now what I need everyone's help with. I am debating on going with white led's instead of blue. I really like the look of the blue led's which I had on my Yamaha but I also like to look of white led's. Why does everyone seem to put blue led's on their boat? Should I go with white or blue?

Thanks for your input.

We have my Abyss light set on white. My wife likes it for night swimming. Do they offer an RGB option for those?

Edit: I just did a search and saw that they do. Why not go that option? Then you can change your mind all the time. :)

I haven't looked to see if they offer RGB but that might be the ticket. Thanks!

The simple answer is no. To achieve different colors, the controller varies the amount of each color that is on at a given moment. Some colors are more efficient (visible light per watt put in) than others. Red/orange is typically the most efficient, then green, then blue (if I remember my semiconductors class right). But, water conditions, ambient light, and your preference will have a huge effect on perceived brightness.

Neat lights I didn't even know they made those style

The blue just looks so damn good in the Bahamas! With that said I bet the white would be more visible at the lake. I personally like the blue better looks wose but could see why you would choose either. The RGB will be dimmer then a single color.

Doesn't anybody make a dual color fixture?

My opionion is choose the color you like the best or just get rgb. Without getting into how COB leds are made, die surface area, color gamut, luminescence, and how all of that is impacted by being under the water....

Single color leds will appear brighter to the human eye. RGB will not be appear as bright as the same single color it is trying to produce with a COB of the same surface area and same amount of power draw. RGB does however have the added benefit of being able to create some really cool color changing effects and being able to choose whatever color you want at any give time.

Diablo lights now have a multicolor light in different light setup.

Thanks! I'm going to contact them tomorrow to figure out my options because I want white and blue or just white.

I have the RGB light from Diablo installed on my boat. Tested on land by directing a hose of water at it and it is pretty cool. I can control the lights via Bluetooth from my iPhone. I can also give it a disco affect by continuously changing the colors.

How many lights do you have? Just the one in the picture? How hard was the install?

Just the one. I will hardly use it so felt one light is good enough. @PaulyB was kind enough to install it. He would be able to better answer your question.

Thanks. Want to add some of these. Just not sure what brand/style/color etc.

No matter what band you choose try to go with RGB light as it will give you options down the road to change color.

Have you tried them out yet? I may order two of them, but wonder if I should go with 3.
