What did you do to your boat today?

Got this bad boy in the mail today. I like the adjustable side mirrors

Interesting. Never thought about that. Is this your concept or are people doing this?

These buckles are now standard on the new 21’ & 24’ boat trailers that I saw at the dealer a few weeks back. I’ve had these for two seasons sitting in my garage but couldn’t get the mounting to my liking so I finally found a mount plate that put them at the right angle to keep the strap from binding... They are marine rated and should last many years of use and can’t wait to launch without the silly cheap standard straps that would barely be hanging on when I go 5 miles down the road from the ramp...

On my new 2020 AR210 Boat Buckles where not standard. Also didn't see them on any of the other new Yamaha boats at two dealerships as well. I don't believe that Yamaha sends them out like that either. Purchased mine aftermarket and installed. They bolted right on and they are great.

@sunbyrned Just search BoatBuckle here on the forums. A lot of people buying these. That is where I got the idea from.

Huh saw them on a 212x and 242ls wonder if it’s the higher end models only... As the sales guy I asked said they didn’t install them...

They weren't on any of the Yamaha's even the 212 and 242, perhaps the dealer puts them on. Or took them off if they where shipped.

They came standard on my AR240 when I purchased in 2016. (Shorelander painted trailer)

Interesting. I see some here who have newer boats with higher trim level that didn't have them on it. Wonder what dictates which trailers receive them?

My 2020 AR240 has them. Galvanized trailer, the buckles aren’t salt water friendly, dealer said they always come from the factory with non galvanized/stainless buckles on the galvanized trailer, so I don’t think it’s the dealer putting them on

For a few bucks more they could of put Stainless on, etc. Not cool.

My 212x with galvanized trailer didn't have them. Had the crappy cheap folding ones. Hate those, but my nice ratchet transom straps were too long. It seems those boat buckles, regardless of brand, have mixed reviews. My boat will be used some in salt water. I'd rather not spend $100 on ratchets that fail fairly quickly.

@suke what about the stainless steel version?
Yeah those are the ones I was looking at. $115 seems a bit steep for something that'll get used and abused under there. Seems the biggest gripe with those is the mounting hardware. Won't rule it out!

add on the mounting piece. I did. Bolted right up and luv them.

No more taking the battery cover off to charge the batteries. Thank goodness! That was becoming a pain. I didn't get a super expensive on board charger, although it has a mounting location. I just didn't want 2 tenders to have to hook up. Also got some pool noodles for the windshield frame as well as the back pieces over the seat. I don't tow much or far with my cover on, but still rather have the protection. Used a dryer duct cleaning kit to thread them through. Wrapped the edges and back buckle with electrical tape to thread it through. Didn't wanna cut the noodles for a more permanent fix that won't fall off. Also got some smaller storage bins. Easier to get in and out.20200709_175703.jpg20200709_180227.jpg20200709_185342.jpg20200709_185358.jpg20200709_190754.jpg20200709_191114.jpg20200709_191124.jpg

Make sure you cover those positive battery posts... Prevents ugly short circuits.

@suke like the pool noodles over the straps. That is a great Idea.

I had covers on the old boat as the batteries were exposed. This one has a massive plastic cover over all of the batteries, so not a chance for anything to get in there. Guessing that's why they didn't come with the boat.
