What did you do to your boat today?

I am officially jealous of all of you who have the boat in your garage or on your property. With the stay home order, mine is up at the lake in storage and I am not supposed to go up there... So no progress on any boat projects today!

I recommend you do the sides (where the carpet is on the walls). Made a huge difference on mine...

How did you fasten it to the side walls?

Waiting for it to be repaired :(

Don't tell anyone here, but I haven't yet. I had some extra egg crate foam lying around, so I just shoved the squares against the wall. The pressure against the floor and ceiling of the compartment held them there and I just decided to see if it would work. It did (and well). I just haven't gotten back to actually attaching them...

After 11 years and 2 broken cheap chinese breaker bars i finally swapped my swing tongue to the other side, that nut was rusted on and by the time i got it off it was so hot i could hardly hold it in my hand

I spent most of Saturday reworking the electrical system. This included upgrading to larger bus bars, moving the onboard charger maintainer and installing larger fuses to go with the new power lines. It may not sound or look like much but it took all day.

I also added a fused distribution block and a splitter for the LED leads to the electronics board.

Finally I fitted the electronics board into the boat. No pic though.

FYI - I glued 2” foam with one side covered by foil directly to the carpet on the walls of the engine compartment and directly to the fiberglass of the front and back walls of the compartment. The glue came out of a spray can, heavy duty 3m I think. For the material under the engine hatch I purchased mounts from west marine as I recall. See the pics, the silver part is actually three parts. A spike mounted to a 1” by 1” metal plate, this is affixed to the wall/ceiling being covered. The foam goes over it and the spike penetrates the foam. The second piece is a washer which reduces the chance that the spike will pull through the foam. The third and final piece is a cap / dome which is pushed onto the spike and is held there by one time use barbs. Push the cap on to far and you risk puncturing the cap.

Before I forget, the mounts were relatively cheap under $30 and came in a bundle of 20 or 100, I don’t know where I put the rest on mine.

Nothing I was supposed to fly to the Florida Keys today but I’m locked out. So I just keep paying for the high and dry for my boat to sit in the rack in Islamarada and my forerunner to sit at the Miami airport until who knows when. ???

Just finished installing a ProSport 6 onboard battery charger, along with a new Duracell marine battery. Used an old cutting board as a backer and then attached heavy duty velcro to the back of the board and simply pushed it onto the felt compartment carpet and voila it holds, tried take it off to see how it was holding and it was not budgin'. Also placed stainless 1/2 washers between the unit and the cutting board to give it a gap for airflow.

Found out the damage on my boat came out to over $6K because the hull area is very thin in that area, they had to get in on the opposite side to do a proper repair. :( Thankfully insurance was good to me, I wasnt planning on using it but had to after saw that cost.

Installed second bilge pump and thru hull fitting today. Wife was concerned about drilling a hole in the boat but it doesn’t bother me a bit. I’ve drilled holes in brand new vehicles for years. Measure twice, maybe more & drill once. Also swapped positions of radio and no wake switch panels. Now maybe I’ll be able to see the radio without getting on my knees. 1FB00CDE-B9C7-4C81-A562-BA87E3B66BF1.jpegB64FB35F-7E9D-4946-A7C3-9C23EE6350F1.jpeg0D937FC7-0BAE-4A86-95D1-D5A5BD0CC4DD.jpeg29616757-83C8-470E-9330-26A1D5FC0D43.jpegC1A76089-F628-4750-B736-DCBF73F59479.jpeg
