Hey, Yamaha jetboat detectives! Long time listener, first time caller.

First off, I want to thank you for everything. Almost every problem or issue I've found on both my Yamaha jetboats over the last ten years has been handled exclusively by you. Your help is legion, and I appreciate you all!

But here's a tricky one:

I found this thing in the bilge - I think it was the aft bilge, and not the engine compartment - while I had the tray out to drill holes and fish cables for a transducer. It might be an artifact of the manufacturing process - God knows how many shavings, cut hose clamp ends, and other deritus I have found in there. But I figured I'd let you wizards get a look-see before I put the boat in the water in case it was something important. Boat is a 2017 242x E-Series. Thanks so much!

Well, crap. As soon as I posted this, the forum gave me a billion threads that referenced the exact same thing. Disregard. Mods, if you want to delete this thread, be my guest. But the thanks are still valid!

I do believe you have found the elusive plug that allows you to section off areas of the hull for drainage, or rather keep dry. Most have pulled those plugs and thrown them away, if they had them to start with.

If you get water in the engine compartment, it would supposedly keep water from moving to other parts of the hull. But then if you got water past the anchor locker, it would not drain to the stern to be bilge pumped out. So most left them open.
