Yamaha surf wake wedge reveal!!! Warning pic heavy

Yes. Typically he is on the far end of the spectrum. I seldom run anything but stock ballast.

Yea that's my boat , I run about 1000 under the rear port seat , 350 bags under the front seats , and usually a 550 on the rear port seat , but that day I was trying a 750 on the rear seat , we like big waves :)

I would be fine with not having the hinged flap for the ladder and using the ladder track to hold the wedge. Seems like ladder would be tough to deploy anyway. What I would love is a bar that goes from tie down to tie down so I can reverse the flap then use the ladder to prevent torsion.

With kind of setup what RPMs you running to get up to 10 MPH? Right now with no ballast on my 242 but with about 10 people weighted to one side (transom was just under water on one side) I have to run close to 6000 RPM just to get it up to speed.

Also with that much weight (never had that many ppl before in the boat) I did notice the side the boat was weighted for put out a nice clean wake looking almost like the ones in this thread but not quite as big. I think it was so clean looking because of the transom already was pushed so far into the water.

I was still frustrated because i still could not ride ropeless using a fish 5'6" board. Beginning to wonder if I chose the wrong board and this board is just not that great to go ropeless on (I weight 220 lbs)?

Very interesting. I may not have ever sold my 212X if this was available at the time. The pics of your waves aren't much different than the wave I had on my Centurion Avalanche with 2k pounds of ballast. I attached a pic of the wave I had on my Centurion. image.jpg

For your weight you will be able to go ropeless but it will be a struggle. I just bought a shred stixx truckster surf style board and that thing is awesome!!! It is weighted for people up to 240 pounds. I am 200 and I had tons of push. I only use the center fin when I surf.

If you are not into surf style boards inland surfer has some excellent skim style boards for us more man or men. :D

Any updates on the progress of the 242 LS prototype? Pics of how it's different. .or pics of the wake?

I'd love to be able to buy one before the boating season is over. Just still a little worried about how strong the attachment will be bolted to the bottom bracket of the ladder mount. Seems like all the pressure to keep it from turning is all on that bracket/pin if the design stays similar.

image.jpg image.jpg I like this wedge, but I don't like to add bags all over my interior. I also am not crazy about listing a boat way over.
I agree my 212x does need more weight though - I'll add an 750lb bag inside the ski locker this winter. I'm sure the combined 1500 will make a substantial difference.
Here's my daughter. Stock ballast filled - and 3 people in the boat. 10 mph running 5k rpm's. She's on. HyperLite Landlock.
And my son on a CWB Ride. He also dropped the rope shortly after I took this picture.

@octavio3311 I have a 800 bag in the ski locker and a 450 across the back seat. doesn't interfere much with seating and we can go ropeless all day with that configuration. we tried weight in the bow but the pocket wasn't as nice

That is close to the setup i want to have - 2 900 LBS bags, one in the ski locker and one across the back seat toward the port side. I figure I would not need to fill the rear bag all the way full and it would still give me big enough wake for me (220 lbs guy) to be able to go ropeless. My son can go ropeless with just 3 ppl (including him) on the boat and no ballast. he just cant do much but stay in the sweet spot and cruse.

What RPM are you running with that type of ballast/set up?

This configuration plus the wake mod i figure will get me an awesome wave to ride. That's why I'm itching to see the progress with the 242's!

A big shout out to @rocknracing !!! We are going to be testing on his boat next weekend with a prototype wedge for the new boats. This is getting exciting folks!! 2012 242 LS

Sneak peek at the new bracket!!

Looking good. Glad to see a little more distance between the bolts where it attaches to the ladder bracket, giving it more strength against twist from the jet wash. Are you concerned it will bend the ladder bracket after a time?

Please take lots of pics and test with and without ballast, give info on how little ballast we can get away with while still making a good shape wave, RPM's too :)

Just want to know exactly what to expect when it come time to purchase.

Yes, I'm excited for this..:)
