Yamaha surf wake wedge reveal!!! Warning pic heavy

I'd be interested in seeing an 06 Sx230 wedge in place without ballast. Once I see that and find me a board this winter on sale and I'll be in.
x2...would like to see the wedge without ballast in the boat. If it looks decent to good, I would probably be a customer.

Any new developments with the wake wedge? Or new photos? Sorry, lol

I should have a test bar tomorrow for the new boat just to make sure angles are right then after that we will have to test on a new 212 or 240. Preferably close so we can see for ourselves what does or doesn't need done

I wonder (of course being mindful of safety first) if you could build in an upward force redirect as part of this to avoid needing aft ballast. Something that would pull the stern down some while still deflecting the wash to keep the wave clean.

I think you'll always need some type of ballast to get a tall wake, or at least some type of weight distribution in the boat to get a nice wake. But I'm excited :-)

i would volunteer to use my air miles to fly one of you to portland if you need a volunteer for a 212!! @jcyamaharider @sx210owner

im curious how its going to attatch on the newer ladder mount, glanced at mine yesterday and theres not much material there without welding a small bracket to attatch the one mount but im sure you've already figured something out

Going to have to drill 2 holes. The bracket will be made so alignment and transfer will be easy.

Two holes in ladder assembly , not the boat :)

Like the progress you guys are making on the new models, keep us updated, have a feeling I won't be getting one for this season(gets cold early up here in Canada) but at least I'll be ready to roll next year!

Looks great! With the 242's I think the hull goes a bit deeper in the water. I'm guessing you would need to make the tab a bit longer (deeper) then for the other models. Can't wait to see how it performs on the LS' s with and without ballast.

One concern I'd have would be with the hinge, seems like a lot of the pressure would be put on that middle hinge if your keeping it at that 45 degree angle your showing. I'd be afraid of the hinge bending especially if you have to make the tab deeper in the water. But I'm sure you have worked all that out.

Eagerly waiting the 242 results/photos with $ in hand :)

Not much force over there just spray , most of the force is right behind the jet , and remember it just deflects the top of the jest wash , not all of it :)

As for the LS we would just need to adjust the wedge to catch the top of the jet spray. It will work the same way as the " Mature" boats.... :D

I am definitely interested in one for my 242 Limited S. If you need to get any measurements or look at one I am in the St. Louis area and would be more than willing to help test it!

Good pics Buck!!!

there's not much meat on the underside of my ladder bracket as i pulled the ladder back to check for clearance unless you guys are drilling down fairly low on the newer ones if wanted ill take a backside picture for clearance. are you doing a nut and bolt or drilling the bracket and threading it directly?

Not enough meat to thread the current bracket. We are going to drill lower to miss the ladder assembly, there will be 3/16" wall material which is plenty for the amount of force that will be there. We will also be using stainless hardware with lock nylock nuts.

Tried some testing this weekend with no ballast......you can have some fun on the end of the rope but going ropeless was out of the question. You will need some kind of ballast, we were able to go ropeless after a 750 bag on the seat and the surf side 400 being filled up. You will have to work the wave but it was possible.

We also got the measurements for the new boats so brackets will be made shortly.

So your saying my dreams of ropeless on my 212X with stock ballast are out of the question ... damn lol, so either load the boat up with people or start looking at some additional bags :(
