I consider my self Yamaha jetboat know it all. LOL.
I seen as many videos and read articles about Yamaha's Drive tech that I could find. I know and understand how the paddles F/R work but, never seen that it was also power steering.
AND now I'm not sure I like the feel.

Yes they have both power steering and the paddle system. I love the new drive system it makes docking and moving around docks and the marina so easy! I was going to add the fin kits to the boat but after using it I did not see the point. All last summer I was able to back my boat into my slip without hitting the dock once and my slip is on a fast moving river and we usually have wind in the afternoon. With my last boat parking at the end of the day was always panic inducing not anymore. Come to think about it I haven’t had a problem docking my boat anywhere since I got the drive system I love it some much. And the power steering limits the turning when using the drive paddles so you don’t make to big of corrections.

That's my only issue is I felt while driving at different speeds I was limited on steering. Compared to our last 242x. But I only have 3 hrs on it

the 25ft boat has a much deeper V compared to the 242. It just wants to continue to go straight even when you are ripping the wheel hard lock. Ive even found it will rotate on the keel and pull one pump outta the water and its game over for speed thru the turn.

I put fins on it, i dont care to mention who's because complete asshole complex, which ive since removed and designed my own set to not interfere with my wakebooster operation and kept my surfpointe angles also.

Both boats had identical deadrise(20 degree) so it is not a deeper v
The lower hull is very close to the older 24, just 6 inches longer

The 252 looks similar but the transom is different. On the 255 the changes are more. The last 14"-16" of the chine is cut in.

Probably because of the more powerful sc engines on 255

Bottom line, @Neutron is correct, as usual.
The add-on length is primarily in the transom platform, the waterline length is almost identical, so is deadrise.

Yes, at speed these hulls tend to continue moving straight like a floating log with no power, unless fins are used (down at speed type). Saved my a$$ in a couple of shallow spots during emergency stops or while slowing down, situations where fins down are the only means to turn without power.

Yamaha only gives a deadrise at the transom, which yes is the same as the 242x previous, but generally the dead rise increases as you go towards front. Be interesting if the boats are identical degrees at the same distance from the transom Looking at my 255 vs 242x I've seen in person it looks like the front V is sharper. But that could be deceiving.
