Sounds like the law is state wide, so who knows how many dumbasses are out there and where they may be. Lake lanier may not be the hotbed of the problems. How times of changed, when i was a kid on lake lanier we used to start wake boarding from the dock. would stand on the side with the board strapped on and jump as soon as the rope got tight. :D

These laws will be coming to most lakes, this GA law is pretty mild compared to some of the proposed legislation in other states.

Other proposed restrictions in other states include minimum depth requirements as well as staying 200’ from shore. I’ve also seen legislation about the sound systems, I think that one is a close second to the 200’ rule. I can easily share the lake with the wake boats and their wakes while out fishing or just hanging out, but when I can clearly hear those boats music from a half mile away that’s just radically inconsiderate and draws unwanted negative attention ( The 2% rule) to wake boats. I’ve always liked my music loud BUT I’ve always been aware to not share it with others.

The DNR Major mentioned the biggest problem being drinking and boating, drunk people are just gross, as well as people not wearing PFD’s while wake boating and kids not wearing their PFD’s. Just had another stand up paddle boarder drown because they were not wearing their pfd at the lake closest to me.
