So I'm in the market to buy a 2015-16 ar240 after seeing some recent posts I'm worried about spider cracks in the gell coat and fiberglass also the issues with the connext screen problems, are theses isolated problems or is it common on the new yamahas?

Not a single problem with mine and we use it hard. Lots of towing and tubing and ocean fishing. Couple times coming back after fishing hit some large swells, I wish there was someone around to get a pic of the boat airborne.

@Jay Petzold , I own a 2015 AR240. I think that the only guaranteed problem that you can expect is that the sound dampening foam will unglue and fall off in your engine bay and inside the swim platform. I've had quite a few minor issues with mine, and one major issue (it leaks). No problems with the gelcoat or with the Connext system (other than the faulty battery voltage readings). I'm bringing it to my dealer tomorrow to get the leak fixed... or at least to see if they can fix the leaky drive shaft. I have the Shorelandr galvanized trailer and it looks like crap after being dipped in salt water twice. Shorelandr says that it's normal, but I don't buy it. I also had to install a few nuts and bolts that were missing from the fenders on the trailer. In my opinion, you would be better off buying your trailer separately, not a Shorelandr. Coming from a prop-driven boat, I find that driving the Yamaha is pretty idiot-proof.

Well a leak seems pretty serious especially if your leaving it in the water, not too worried about the trailer I'm not planning on any salt water use, I currently have a stern drive, are the jet boats pretty stable with not being able to trim them?

@Jay Petzold , I agree with you that a leaky boat is a serious problem. My situation was hard to figure out. Sometimes I'd get a half gallon drain out of the bilge and other times it seemed like 4 gallons. It turns out that the amount of water coming in increased dramatically at high RPMs. I had a leaky boat from day one, when I mentioned it to my dealer, they said that they all leak somewhat.
I think that the boat self-trims quite well. The only time that I would have preferred to have adjustable trim was during last year's crossing to Bimini.
It was important to work the throttles in order to keep the bow up when encountering the big waves. An I/O or an outboard setup would work much better in big waves.

@Jay Petzold No complaints on mine. No connext issues, no gel coat issues and no leaks to speak of on mine. My 2012 had a gel coat spider crack around the tower but I don't believe it was a big deal and Yamaha warrantied it no problem. It could have been argued that it wasn't even under warranty but they covered it with no issue.

@Jay Petzold agreed. In my opinion it's not if it has issues but how well the manufacture/dealer take care of you. In my opinion Yamaha is heads above the rest.

Hey @subysti , did Yamaha say that all of the 2015 Connext models were wired wrong causing the incorrect battery voltage readings?

@MrMoose yes sir. I was told that's the way it it and they had no plans to fix it. I'm curious if it's still that way in the 16's.

25 hours on mine to date and only the pre-mentioned sound deadening coming away, other than that I'm still pushing the hours up.
Due back in Florida later this month to use and abuse .

@Britboater Can you investigate whether your Connext is giving you accurate battery voltage readings?

Shouldn't the reading on a volt meter be the same as what the screen says

The only inconvenience problem with my 2015 242 LS was the starboard throttle rpm drop. The dealer came to the boat and replaced the housing, works and great now. I love the control of the rpms with the up down clicking. I never had my Galvanized trailer in the water as I dry stack the boat it from the day I got it. Trailer stored in my garage. My wife loves the boat as do I however, thinking of selling it before committing to another year of dry stacking this April. I now travel every month. You have to Love the fact my wife
wants to keep it, she never said that with our past boats.

I had some slippage in my port throttle lever, and about a third of an inch of misalignment between the starboard/port levers. The dealer showed me how to adjust it. It seems pretty easy. Two screws for each throttle lever. One for friction and one for alignment. All that said, I can't remember which one does what.:wideyed:
@Mauimike, what do you mean by "up down clicking"? My levers don't click other than the indexing that moves the gates up/down from revers/neutral/forward.
