Also - notice in the pic of the Scarab 255 above the head comp hinges, I believe the new 275 Yama has the same design with bulging doors to the larger head compartment.

If you are offering a larger boat, my expectation is there will be a larger cabin seating area and not 3 ft more of rear end only good for sitting idle. Love the hard top and mixed on their odd window look they went for which seems to be trending on larger yachts.

I’m a fan of boats with high gunwales and freeboard so you feel like you are sitting down in the boat. Not sure this boat will give that feeling, especially if sitting towards the back
That is my sentiment as well. I like the old 230s for that very reason, you get that high freeboard/gunwale all around including in the rear, wherein the 2015+ 240/242s have a very low back cushions/support. It is not ideal for comfort and secure feeling for many passengers I noticed, especially with small kids.
The new 275 seems to take that concept to the extreme.

I have to say I love the styling and this boat lines, it screams luxuty to me, but the whole thing strikes me as extremely impractical at the same time, w/cushions covered stern and 9' beam (presumably)...

My thoughts exactly. If your gonna make it 3 ft longer dont just turn the ass end into a sun bed. Id almost bet it will hold about the same amount of people the 24s do.

Yep, I never like the rear bench area of my 242. It dipped down very low in the center and did not provide much back support for passengers. That's one thing I like about most of the wake boats. They have complete wrap around seating with high back support in rear of boat.

I was trying to hold off commenting until the official release but feel as though there is enough out there at this point for some initial comments. Perhaps anyone there is person can look closer at some of the things that we are noticing in these initial photos.

I am anxious to see the swim seats, I like the front windshield supports, the stern ladder appears to me a more modern design that I could see liking, but that is about where the good ends for me so far. The large lounges would be great if better executed with ergonomics in mind. I can see having to constantly readjust as one slips forward on those. Also does not appear to be enough space to fully lay out. I personally like the e series tower and bimini over the tower and hard top on this. That hardtop is also begging to become caulky if fiberglass like I assume. Those wing steps look ridiculous to me and can't wait to trip up grandma and send her to the hospital beyond begging to be damaged themselves. The center rear grab handle appears to be metal and if so is begging to damage rings or burn somebody. You would think that Yamaha would make sure the fit and finish of the first couple of these and especially those used in promo photos would be better. The vinyl is sagging, rippled, etc already in many places. With what I can see so far the fit and finish quality is what we have come to expect (below average). I am also not a fan of side window style never mind how they meet up with the front windshield. I think there are a lot of missed opportunities to do things a bit better than they did with what I can see so far.

It appears that Yamaha is trying to separate itself from the other 27 foot class bowriders out there as most of the others look remarkably similar to each other. My guess is that this style will appeal to some but just not me yet. I am not sure those that it will appeal to are the core of Yamaha's current market and perhaps that is the idea for them right now. For me there are many other 27 foot class bowrider/surf boats out there that appeal to me much more. Regal, Chaparral, and Cobalt all have 27 foot class surf models with what will likely be similar OTD pricing, Volvo forward drives, better fit and finish, better fuel economy, etc.

Oh yeah did I mention just how stupid those rear wings/steps look to me?

The base model is... a bargain. Really, at $56k OTD. Albeit with the 150hp motors I don;t know how well it would throw a surf wave at your altitude.

Meh... I think the AR240 wins that contest on most accounts...

Not that I like it if that was the thought, but wonder if they put the wings there to serve as an arm rest?

I dunno, I think all the Yamahas look cool, but I don’t think I’d feel cool at all driving this thing... Thaf could change if I had a few playboy models trying out the rear lounge but I digress.

They are. I looked at several boats at the boat show a few weeks back and all new boats have insane prices lol! I looked at all the premium wake boats, and their lower priced point entry level boats. Supra/Moomba, Tige RZX/R series, Mastercrafts, etc etc. Similar to car industry with Lexus/Toyota, Honda/Acura etc. There is a big difference between the lower tiered boats and the ultra expensive premium boats. The entry level boats feel bare and plain after crawling around in the $120k boats. They are still over $70k -$80k though. That being said I feel like the Yamaha's feel pretty nice on the inside for the price when comparing to other boats in the same price range. The new 242x looked great and felt high end on the inside. Performing on the water and wake sports is a whole separate conversation!
I don’t know. I guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder but to me even the entry level wake bots are a much higher quality than the Yamaha boats. The fabric material alone is better not to mention the stitching, density of the foam and general fit of the upholstery is better in most of those boats. The exception being the Mastercraft NXT or Heyday’s IMO. Not sure I agree with the budget boats being “bare bones” either. Most of them come with the same surf technology as their more expensive product lines. You just don’t get as nice of extra appointments such as power towers, LED RGB cockpit or underboat lighting, multiple touch screens, etc. You also don’t get those features on a similarly priced Yamaha either. The seat thickness on a Yamaha is like 2.5” or so. It’s not very thick and the seats feel hard by comparison to a Moomba, Axis, MB etc. You also get much higher freeboard as you found out and can see how much safer and nicer that feels inside the boat. With a Yamaha the deepest area is near the helm but it tapers off towards the bow and stern after that. This doesn’t even begin to get into all the things you can’t see that make up the overall build quality. I mean one look at the way Yamaha performs an anchor locker drain install should tell you something about what they think about quality vs what the customer is willing to put up with. When you add that all up and you’re able to fully customize the boats looks, it just makes the Yamaha’s feel expensive and sort of cookie cutter for what they are, at least to me anyways.

I’m not dogging Yamaha either as I do love their boats. But I’ve also crawled all inside of many boats to see and feel the differences. Yamaha and jet boat pricing in general has crept into a whole other realm of competition now. Before there wasn’t much to choose from in their price ranges but now any price conscious shopper will dive deep into the boats and should be able to see where their money goes. I think they all make great boats, it just depends on how hard up you are to need or want jet propulsion. If you’re not serious into making real wakes and waves then a jet boat is hard to beat for overall family fun on the water. Jack of all trades master of nine kind of thing. For most people on here I think jet boats fits them well. I would love for them to come out with a jet that could compete in the same wave level but that remains to be seen without throwing bags all over the boat or adding wave enhancements. I just want to flip a switch and surf with minimal effort and fuss.

The edge of that roof looks pretty sharp...wouldn't want to whack my head on it!!!62662D51-4716-449B-BC72-9408C02E5429.png

It's a step!
I see what they were going for but they of all people should know it’s a trip hazard. After all they did redesign the swim step access in 2014 or so to have a more surer footing area. The new wing steps just don’t seem like a smart design other than someone thinking adding wings to a boat somehow makes it look cool, which is debatable. Personally I think it looks stupid. Wings belong on true Hydrofoil jet boats IMHO.

I don't mind the 'wing', it looks like it would double as an armrest for those sitting on the deck, and might help keep that even-lower-than-normal step from getting underneath a dock.

That’s until someone is in a tight dock situation and rotates the stern under the dock and you’ll just rip it off now :D

Thinking the "E" model will have no tower/roof on it?
Doesn't look like there's anything on the tops of those wings that would make them non-slip, if they were intended to be steps.
