Aloha Gang, so this past week I got a call from one of the boys he tells me. “Ah Rueb my wife has some friends from Australia in town, can u take them to the river”. I say yeah of coarse any reason to take the Yammy out right lol. So I started thinking, my boys wife Mariko Lum is a Professional TOP Ranked SUP Board, Paddle Board, and Foil Board rider. I just was wondering who her friend could be🤔. So it’s turns out to be Jordan Mercer, World Ironwomen Series Champion, 6x Molokai2Oahu World Paddle Board Champion, And 10x World ISA Gold Medalist. So yeah she’s a RIPPAH lol🤣. They went sight seeing first giving me and my son time to swim, cause he’s a fish🐟. Filled up the 2 side 400lb bags, and put on the Wakewedge. They showed up in the early afternoon, and we were able to make some passes up and down the river. My wake wasn’t as pretty as usual, had some issues with my wake enhancement. But all and all had a great time, hosting some old and new friends. Both my son and I enjoyed watching them shred, It was truly a Pomaika’i(Blessing).🙏🏽

Here’s a short vid of the action, hope u enjoy...

Mahalo ke Akua,

That foil ride was crazy!! Making me home sick! Big ups!

Yes, all 3 fins yesterday. It was such a great feel, I wasn't ready to mess with it yet. Next time I think I'll try just the rear fin and see what it feels like. With all 3 fins in, you definitely track toward the middle when the spin starts. More of a "spin in place" would be better, which I'm assuming will be easier with less fins, if I can stay on. :) I really can't overstate how perfect the board is for my setup. I've tried quite a few, and have a couple of really nice ones, and this one just nails it.
take em all off. Makes it way easier to do pop shove its, or anything switch. After awhile you don't notice they're gone. You can get away with this if your board is fast. Or if you have a skim board. My board has a 4 fin set up but anymore than 2 and it feels like its tracking. Surfing is supposed to be loose and squirrely. I'm currently in the market for a skim board and a long board (for friends who are learning).

This morning, we had our best surfing day yet. Without a doubt, adding more ballast significantly improved the wave with wakebooster. I had 650lb in center locker, 850lb custom bag centered on swim deck, and 650lb bag on surf side swim deck. The wave was thigh high with a deeper pocket and great push. The Yamaha slingshot board was effortless to ride and my phase 5 skim board was much funner to ride but it needs the better push.

Here’s a video showing how the wave changes with different speeds.

You need to fill your transom bag more. You should be able to bounce a coin off of it.

Do you fill them up with air first?

So fill them with air. Then tie them. Then open the air valve enough for air to start seeping. Fill with water. When water not air starts seeping push all the corners down to get the rest of the air out. Close the air cap and continue filling for a few minutes until it looks like it could burst. Then your good.

I used the air pre-fill this weekend and it does make placement easier and only takes about 2 minutes and just holding the inflater to the bag to fill it.

Have we ever heard of someone blowing a seam on a ballast bag?? I don't think so and wonder if the seams are stronger than the pump?

I would think the bag is stronger than an air pump.
Also not sure if an aerator style pump would do damage pumping water?
But - reversible pump (Johnson style) will do damage with water, those will overfill to rupture, also will crack bulkheads if not stopped.

I was just about to pull the trigger on one of these boards, but yesterday, we figured out how much bow weight helped. And that our board works really well for all sizes. (We don’t have room for a quiver of boards, nor the cash)

We had the transom bag only half filled, as the family was anxious and we only had an hour to surf before we needed to get food on the grill. So half bag, and 5 folks in the boat. Adults in the bow and the bag was centered as we had regular and goofy surfers. Honestly, it’s the best the wave has been, as I just have not had a chance to get folks on, but now they all want to try.

The youngest went first and was instantly ropeless. In fact, I was telling her to hang on a bit, so that I could straightline it out of the area away from fisherman. But she insisted on dropping and carving the wave. It was fun to watch. Then the fat kid had a chance. And Once I realized that everyone was staying higher on the wave, the push came. I was blown away that the rope was slack the hole time.

So once we get the wake cleaned up this week with the TV wakes, and fill the bag fully, we are going to have some more good times. Video to come.

PS: I actually recovered from an initial butt dip on take off, and recovered from burying the tip of the board 6” under. I do like this board (Inland Surfer Blue Lake)

Doomswell rep told me I should center the swim deck bag. Looks like you figured it out. The 195 needs bow weight badly. 500 lbs works great. I'd suggest about 400lbs of lead evenly spaced. Limp rope and ropeless is same thing imo. Stoked for you

So yesterday I added about 30 gallons of fuel, and filled the transom bag fully. We put 3 adults in the boat, as the boat could hardly get up it plowed so hard. But the bow weight helped greatly.

Honestly, the wave was better with less weight, and we could control the boat better too. We are going to play this game until we figure out the weight. I also noted that we were in deeper water before. I was told in shallow water, the wave will act different, and I believe it. We were plowing in probably 7ft of water. That was probably an issue as the wave could not build properly. We will test again today

We centered the transom bag with the wake wedge and had the boat even ballast on port & starboard wave didn't seem like anything I would ride. Boat appeared to have trouble getting up to speed. Then we added weight to port side only and wave was large but still appeared to have no push with transom still centered. Wake wedge works to it's full potential when the boat is listed. We took gopro but have to wait till we return from vacation to upload them.
