You shoulda hit me up, I would have given you a hand getting those installed! I still have the tongue weight scale if you need it, but I keep it up north. Lemme know if you want to use it so I can bring it back (or bring your boat up by me!)
I had it in for it's 10 hour and left it with them for 2 weeks while on vacation, I figured, meh, just throw them on.

I installed the Thrust Vector Wake and Lateral Thrusters on my 2014 Yamaha 242 Limited S this week and launched the boat today. I'm impressed with the lateral thrusters for steering in reverse, but I still have a lot of jet spray. I took off my Thrust Vector XLs to install the Thrust Vector Wakes and the jet spray is approximately the same as when the XL Thrust Vectors were on, and possibly worse. I hope there is an adjustment that I can make to the TV Wakes to drastically reduce the jet spray at wakesurfing and wakeboarding speeds. @JetBoatPilot please let me know what I need to do to adjust the TV Wake to knock down the jet spray. I followed all of the instructions in your YouTube installation video, and I used the new white spacer that came with the kit to adjust the spacing for my up stop screws. Here are 5 photos from today... I was the only person in the boat, no ballast, using Perfect Pass Star Gazer at 11.2, 18, and 20 mph. Thanks! 2014 242 Limted S 1.jpg2014 242 Limted S 3.jpg2014 242 Limted S 4.jpg2014 242 Limted S 5.jpg2014 242 Limted S 6.jpg

Looks like you need to adjust your height settings about 1/2 turn on each stop.

I adjusted the up stop screws so the heads of the screws are closer to the boat, limiting the up stop sooner with the deflector angled down more than last week. I’m not sure if it looks better than last week. Did I adjust too much or not enough @JetBoatPilot ? 8F6D4CAB-CE92-48C3-B325-C5B6CCF75CDD.jpegF61E852E-CF36-4174-8814-4B5A57F7D459.jpeg13A29AC0-9BB8-4AE9-9563-0A1FCF762503.jpegBA233905-021F-4E4F-BF03-337AD84672C2.jpeg8199219D-9C5C-4C35-BD7B-AB80B01F9E7B.jpeg

I'd adjust down another 1/4 turn on each stop bolt. It should be really clean at 11.2 mph.

Okay, thank you. Just FYI, I adjusted several turns yesterday, more than the half turn you recommended. The angle yesterday was significantly lower than last week, possibly too low...? I can adjust them even lower, but it might create a gap where some of the jet wash escapes before the jet wash hits the deflector. I’ll apply the adjustment you recommended today and I’ll post progress photos. @JetBoatPilot

Ok if you do see water getting over the top it is definitely too low. Let us know how this turns out.

@JetBoatPilot here are some photos from yesterday at 11.2 mph. I adjusted the angle of the plates back to your original recommendation using the white spacing tool that came with the TV Wake kit. The height of the spray seems to be lower but there is quite a bit of horizontal spray. What do you think of these photos? Do I need to adjust the up stop screws again, or just wait for the deflector to be shipped this week? Thank you!

I am not sure how you're still getting this much spray if you've followed the adjustment steps. You are using the new white plastic height gauge correct? How long have you been running the TVW?

@JetBoatPilot yes, I am using the new white plastic height gauge that came with the TVW kit. My TVW arrived a couple of weeks ago and it looks like this every time, even with adjustments to the up stop screws to try to correct this. The most recent photos have the TVW adjusted to the exact height with the white height gauge. I followed all of the instructions in your YouTube installation video. The first post in this thread includes two photos of the TVW that I installed... maybe you can take a look to see if I installed something incorrectly. Thank you.

Hey guys and gals,

We've been getting some feedback from Thrust Vector Wake users over the past week or so. Most has been good, but some not so good.

Here's what we know thus far. The product is delivering as promised. Thrust Vector Wake makes a dry ride and a clean surf wave. That is not being disputed.

The negatives that we're hearing are coming from 2012-2018 model year 19 foot owners and a handfull of twins from a variety of years. We're working to narrow down the year and model of the boats that have known issues and will be working on a solution as quickly as possible.

Complaint 1: The up stop on the right side was in some cases coming into contact with the steering clevis preventing installation completion
Solution: Up stops modified in shop to allow for greater clearance for the clevis and the clevis mount bolt.
(If you are needing new up stops for the right side or new clevis bolts please call us tomorrow and we'll get those out to you or if you want instructions on how to modify in the field watch this video for examples of how we are modifying the parts in house.

Complaint 2: Reverse bucket rubbing on up stop bolt head or nut.
Solution: Reduced the diameter of the up stop bolt and nut and increased the thread count to compensate. This solution goes into effect when our new inventory comes in in a few weeks. (this issue did not occur often but nonetheless we wanted to be proactive and adjust to be safe)

Complaint 3: Heaviness in steering wheel at speeds above 15 mph.
Cause: Fins are being held in the water at high speeds so the wheel can be tough to turn in some cases.
Solution: Ongoing... For now if you'd like to adjust your up stop bolts to allow the fins to travel farther out of the water, you can do this while we are working on a fix. If you adjust your up stop bolt heads away from the transom you're going to allow the fins to rotate like a normal set of Thrust Vectors. You'll lose the down deflection but can still go boating without having to remove the entire system.

Our testing was done on a 2019 AR195, a 2018 212X and a 2011 SX240. We felt like we had done the best due diligence that we could and our previous knowledge of Yamaha jet boats led us to believe that our research was sound.

Today we acquired a loaner 2018 190 FSH sport for comparison to our 2019 here in the shop. We have already observed some differences which should allow us to come up with a solution.

Also note we have paused shipments of Thrust Vector Wake units for today and will be meeting again in the morning to discuss whether or not we'll be shipping units as they are or if adjustments need to be made prior to their going out. Some boats are not effected by the heaviness issue but again we're going to be working to determine which ones can ship and which ones may need to be held.

If you have any questions about any of the complaints above please feel free to reach out to me personally at will@jetboatpilot.com. I am actively working on this and can assure you my entire team is working to get this right as quickly as possible.
We appreciate all of your patience as we adjust to this unforseen issue. We will make this right.
2016 ar 190 with tv Wake I am experiencing all 3 issues
used a flat file on the bolt to stop rubbing on the steering clevis

Let me ponder this a bit. I am perplexed at how you could be getting this result when you've followed the procedure properly. Sorry I don't have the answer now, but I will get back with you and help you get this sorted out.

@JetBoatPilot thank you. I appreciate your help. I can send more photos of my TVW from different angles if you want to double check if I installed everything correctly. I’m confident that you can come up with a solution and I’m happy to help however I can. I can also send a video of my wake at 11.2 mph if that would help. Thanks.

@JetBoatPilot I adjusted the up stop bolts one full turn each to increase the deflector angles. It was windy today and the water was choppy. My opinion is that this is a significant improvement. Are you pleased with these photos or should I adjust the bolts further to get an even better outcome? The speeds in these photos are 11.2 mph and 18.0 mph. Thanks!

Yes that image at 11.2 is what you're looking for. The 18mph image also looks good.

@JetBoatPilot My jet wash deflector arrived today. Thank you!! Here’s a photo with it installed and 500 pounds of steel shot ballast. Question for you... what is the factory ballast capacity in each of the three tanks on the 242x in your recent video? I want to replicate your wave with the 100% port, 50% starboard, 25% center, but I don’t know the factory capacity in each location. I have 1200 pounds steel shot, two 400 pound fat sacs and one 750 pound fat sac so I just need to know how much weight to put port, center, and starboard. Thanks!!278B9B07-DC7C-4618-BE48-6A7B91D50F86.jpeg

Wake looks nice and clean now. I'd put 600 lbs down on the center of the lower platform. Then add another 400 lbs on the surf side upper swim platform. Then fill the surf side rear bag which I believe is about 300 lbs full (both port and starboard). The center line holds about 800 lbs max but we don't fill it full when we surf. Yamaha advertises 1400 lbs of total ballast on the 242X.

Also when you're listing the boat over be careful that you don't list it over too far as you will cause a spray to escape the non surf side nozzle and it will irritate your surfer.
