I don't really like that at all. They give people the false sense that they may get a 2022 sometime sooner than they could actually get one. People and families are somewhat hopeful for something that there really isn't a good time frame on especially with the continued shortages.

I've heard of several dealers now that have already pre-sold their 2021 allotments and are starting to take reservations on 2022 models. Kind of a bummer for those still looking to find new boats this year as they may not get them in time to enjoy them this summer.

To your comment above, is one of the different paint colors you're seeing in the picture below? If so, that's not a new 2022 paint color; it's an old 2020 paint color. They also have an image of an SX195 on there with an old 2020 paint color.

Yamaha plays their cards very close to the vest when it comes to new product info so it's highly unlikely they would have shared any new info with dealers yet, no matter how big of a dealership they are. And any imagery of new product posted to a dealer website before it was officially announced by Yamaha would be an egregious error by the dealer.

That makes sense, thanks! Still they’re asking for $67,000 for a $61,000 boat! That’s a big markup for ordering something that won’t show up for another year! I would also think most of the production issues would be resolved by then. Crazy!

agree 100%! And on top of that they’re asking for $6k over MSRP. Even with prep that’s a lot!

@KCAR250 I wouldn't think that Yamaha would jump the MSRP that much, which is far beyond what they would do. If in fact they did that, all of our used boats go up in value considerably. I would say a couple thousand give or take. For those prices people will start looking at other Manufacturers for a better trim level and features in that price range.

For sure! The thing about Yamahas is that they’re value boats. You lose the value part and I for sure would be looking at other options.

I just checked out of curiosity on my dealer's website. The difference on MSRP for the 2021 vs. 2022 same model for the 212SD was $4,500 increase. Dealer price stated MSRP. So I assume they aren't bundling in prep/destination in that cost.

Why the $4500 increase? I’d hope it’s cause they’re getting new engines. For that much increase I’d think there be a major change.

Yea that dealer is blowing smoke. Nothing is released nor do they know the new pricing. Probably looking for deposits like the crap a lot of dealers pulled last year before they know anything.

They might be redesigning the 21ft as the last time it was changed was in 2017 so that would make sense...ish

@KCAR250 I got a bit of that info one a conference call a while ago that I posted that an IT engineer was on who also works with/for Yamaha. I asked if the guy could confirm. Never heard back from him, so I dunno, but could be.

Not totally sure why the dealer would overstate the price though. Money down was a flat amount, not percent value based.

There really isn't any incentive to inflate the MSRP, other than protecting themselves from potential lost orders if they understated the final MSRP. But then on the flip side, having it be over stated may cause potential buyers to look elsewhere for value?

Or maybe this is in preparation for inflation with all the money the US has been printing lately?? (Dancing gingerly around that comment. No politics, rather actual genuine concern)

Well if they are changing them, I vote for a bigger gas tank and put the the 4 cylinders in all 21' models as well as the new sliding seats.

Marineland Boating Center in Waco, TX took my order for a 2021 SX190 back in January advertising a 6-8 week delivery time. A friend ordered the same boat in December. Both of us are still waiting on the boats. At the 8 and 11 week mark (for respective orders), the dealer claimed they were "confirmed builds" but could not provide any additional info. I'm curious if Yamaha will extend the financing deals beyond March given the long lag time.

I spoke with this dealer mid February, they are stating that should have the 2022's (at least the 19') in July. As for the inflated price showing on their website, they were very upfront they do not know what the price will be of the 2022's yet and that is what they figure the high end of purchase price will be (MSRP, destination fees, prep), I don't think tax was included though. So for the 195s specifically was $44,900 which is about $4k over current MSRP for 21's. They state it will NOT be more than that and if is less will adjust down when have actual MSRP. The deposit (refundable) is 10%. I did put deposit down to order a 2022 195s, that I am told should be here in July, and assured if it is not I can get my deposit back and will look at what's in stock then.

I spoke to a Yamaha dealer in NH about 3 weeks ago, rep said they already had 12 deposits for 2022 boats.

I'm still waiting on my 2021 212XD from Irwin here in NH...Since July. Though, the last update from Yamaha was a couple weeks again and that it was 'built'. So fingers crossed.

Built should be a good sign. I have two deposits, one local (1:15 hours) and one about 10 hours away. Banking on one of them coming through.

i am in the marine manufacturing circle and i can tell you if the boat is built then that is a good thing. things are getting real grim for most boat builders. its not getting better, its getting worse. there is a massive shortage on fiberglass and resin right now. do you know how many boat companies have basically closed their doors right now because they cant make a hull? its crazy.

Holy crap, that’s pretty crazy to hear it’s not getting better. I feel like companies are hesitant to upgrade infrastructure/capacity because they know life and demand will return to normal, I can’t hold that against them. I’ll feel very fortunate if my fam can have a boat this summer.
