Ended up buying a 2016 90D X in Dec and have been towing our 1series john deere around with it, now that it's warming up here is texas we have used it to haul our 2020 ar190 out to the lake 4 times and haven't had any issues at all, range gets cut down a bit but no slipping on the ramp and no power/stopping issues

What kind of power consumption (in kw-hr/mi) are you seeing towing that 190 around?

Ordered the Y on Apr 6th.

I Have developed an OCD logging in to the Tesla account, and watching the build date. lol It moved back a couple times then up, now, Seems as though the window is squeezing so thats good. Its Apr 30- may 17 right now. I'm thinking second week of may is good. nothing happening. Have it home and setup before graduation madness!

Still awaiting my model Y delivery. Sounds like supply chain issues <sigh>

Ill be tuning in closely to this reveal later today. The Mach E turned out to be an ok vehicle, and I dont imagine Ford would would stab their cash cow truck in the back. I personally expect it to be pretty good.

The lightning looks pretty good! Will it work for every need for everyone right at this moment? not quite. But its damned close.

Kudos to Ford.

Honestly, I'm disappointed by it. Mainly because it's not a real lightning, it's just an electric f150.

The entry price sounds good... Until you remember that nobody pays near MSRP for a gas f150. Are they going to discount the EVs too? I dunno, but I doubt it. The upper end models are INSANELY expensive. 90k for a f150 is a steep price, regardless of credits. Certainly some people will pay it... But that's 20k more than a gasser (before incentives).

That said I hope it fails miserably and they put the product planners head on a pole outside of the Ford HQ because they didn't announce a lowered SVT Lightning version that was properly sporty.

I always thought the old lightning was hot garbage, so I'm not disappointed by repurposing the name (at least not as disappointed as the 'mustang' mach e).

If you tick all the boxes on a gasser F150, you're pushing $80K (and not seeing much in the way of discount these days), so $90K for the top of the line eF150 doesn't seem unreasonable. It's an intriguing car, especially while the full 7.5K tax rebate is available. Not sure I can get behind the range though.

Personally, I'm still holding out hope for a plug-in hybrid. Give me 50-100 miles electric range, and then the gas motor backup.

More like Gas Range Extender. Chevy Volt had this setup. People that own them love them. Give me that capability in a pickup (or 3-row SUV now), and I'm right there with ya. Get the electric for commuting, and the gas for loaded long range driving.

Exactly. I don’t need the frunk on the new lightning, leave the eco boost in there, and halve the battery capacity. I’d be down for that all day long.

Realistic long term plan is to pick up in EV in a year or two assuming I end up having to commute again full time - leave the truck for truck duty, and an EV for commuting.

I'd prefer an f150 with a 100 mile battery pack and a Trinity motor (or whatever the new gt500 motor is called) v8 for use as a range extender and hauler of asses.

My feeling too. I was a huge mustang fan. Not the right place for the rebadge. especially with the "MACH" name in it. MAYYYYBE had they announced their entry into EV's with a SERIOUSLY bad ass sports EV and called it the mustang. but we looked at it. Nothing about it says mustang to me. But, my guess is im not the target demo. Theyre goin for younger folks who MIGHT recognize the name.

the truck though.. its good. really. Will it work for all of us? Nah not yet. But it really is about time truck builders actually did something different. Not just lipstick on pigs. Sorry not sorry. Ive went and looked at new trucks for years, watching the sticker prices explode, while only getting surface changes. Ford is winning the game right now. I say Kudos. When charge infrastructure catches up to EV prominence, Ford will have the section owned.

Hybrid would be a personal no for me. but i could definitely see it in more urban setting 100%

yep this was us. But when we realized Well have 4 drivers in the house soon, we decided it was time, but to just keep the Nissan, Dodge Dakota for longer range towing, hauling. Have a VW jetta that will go to one of my sons. Tesla for commuting, and reasonable road trips. We did order with the tow hitch, but this is mostly for own towing beta testing. Mileage vs charge etc. well be able to tow to the river but prob not our favorite lake( at 60 miles one way, its close considering an estimated 40% range loss,) Ozarks gives me pause. 230 miles. there ARE superchargers at right spread of ranges but, maneuvering to charge in there gives me MAJOR heebie jeebies. AGain, much to learn, and that could be a non issue, looking forward to the learning.

EDIT: i digress....I can see the hybrid thing for commuting, then still having a powerful tow machine.

I think there's definitely a market for a truck like this. I don't think it will tip the balance so to speak, but I could see it working for a lot of people that want a truck bed, and mainly commute in town. I think the pricing is going to be a tough sell for the casual truck people (the millenils who just bought a house and want a truck to go to home depot will likely buy the new Hyundai Santa Cruz instead).

I could see the diesels selling more than the EVs. They make more sense for a lot more people, at a much better price point.

Personally, I would lease one at most. EVs tend to have pretty terrible residual value, vs the strong residuals on a regular truck. I certainly wouldn't want to pay 90k for a new lightning then turn around and it be worth 30 to 40k after 3 years.

Mid 4s' in a truck is pretty fast. I test drove a roush Nitemare (5.0 with a supercharger at 650 HO) 0-60 in 3.9. Love the power, the gas gauge move almost as quick as the speedometer, except down. I like the lightning , and might look at it for a purchase. I really want to drive a Rivian though.

I'm a mustang nut. I don't mind the Mach E. I was disappointed in the power of the mach e's they released first. Very slow, they should have released the GT version first. That would have increased the hype a lot.

I really want to drive a Rivian though.
My boss is an early release edition reservation holder for Rivian. he's been told he should have his in the next few months. I'm REALLY REALLY interested to see how it stacks up and works. He tows a trailer from time to time with his F150, but it's always around town. Said he's rarely ventured more than a hundred miles in a day with the trailer. Should work out really well for him I would think. Daily commute is around 30mi one way, so he's well covered there. His wife is already in a Model X, so he's full on board with ditching the gas stations.

Rivian is opening a store in Chicago I think. Might be able to get a test drive there by the end of the year.

In other thoughts. Did you guys see the estimated weight on the new Hummer? Over 9k lbs curb weight. HOLY CRAP!
