I just went in to my local Yamaha dealer to get some silicone spray for the clean out ports. Was greeted by a salesman who went to look for some and someone to help me. He asked about my boat and told him that we had just purchased one a few weeks back and he asked what I paid and I told him. He then goes on to insult me about what I paid and to ask why didn’t I just get an ar 250. So I have him all the reasons. He then tells me I can get one in a couple weeks if I wanted one. Moron. I will never talk to him again. The guy that actually helped me was super nice and I talked to him for 20 minutes about stuff but actually walked out with no silicone spray. They just said to use any spray. They didn’t sell it? Thought that was weird. Anyways, good and bad feeling from the store.

Sorry to hear about your experience with d-bag salesperson. At least you made a connection with the other guy. You have a fantastic new Yamaha, and you have the resources from this website to give you a lot more help with the combined knowledge of this community than you will ever get from d-bag sales guy.

Thanks @mark_m. I just didn’t get what the salesman had to gain by acting like that. The funny thing is, the guy that was super nice heard the whole conversation from his corner office. I’m pretty sure he was higher up on the totem pole than the d bag salesman in the cubicle. I really hope he got a good ass chewing.

Yep. It’s the way his business can gain or lose a customer for life. My local dealer only gets my oil change kit business. For what it’s worth… you’ve got a Yamaha and hopefully that’s all you’ll need to buy from them for a long long time.

Ancient sales tricks.

The dealer is angling for your boat to flip, and sell you an overpriced new one. They get your boat below market value on a trade in for a boat that doesn’t exist. When they do get a boat to sell you, they up charge you due to scarcity. So in this scheme if it works nets the dealer about 10k profit on each boat. +20k for a BS conversation if they get an idiot that will believe anything in a showroom. Then they will sell the sucker the $500 oil change instead of the $45 oil change kit, or charge for new cleanout plugs and their removal instead of $10 for marine grease / silicone spray / pool lube. There is no honor among theives.

Don't be like me and buy it bit by bit. Payed shipping too many times haha.

Good reason is safety. Before full sea deck I slipped and hurt my ankle. No bueno. Now I feel good stepping on all surfaces.

I'll second the safety. Also: it is cool (both looking and temp-wise). Much better walking on that than it was walking on either the bare deck or the carpet. Further: because it is stuck in permanently, you spend less time snapping in carpet and drying it and all and much more time enjoying your boat!

My wife doesn't do the boat much at all--and even she loves ours.

It won’t stink when it’s wet. Easier to keep clean. Jetboatpilot group buy is now and you get the best pricing of the year now. Seadeck was the best upgrade to he boat, just ahead of redoing all the audio amp speakers, etc.

LESS WORK removing the carpet when it starts to stink (and IT WILL!), LESS WORK cleaning the flooring when you make a mess (and YOU WILL), a MILLION times more comfortable on the feet, your coolers will be far less likely to go skating around the cockpit so IT'S SAFER, and it gives you better traction all-around, so again, it's SAFER.

Every bit of what is pointed out by us on this forum can be verified BY HER with the flooring on the swim deck. It will be MORE useful inside the cockpit, and will become something you appreciate more and more with time, and will add immeasurably to the enjoyment of your boat.

p.s. You can take a road trip and visit me next weekend, and MY wife will sell her on the improvement and enjoyment of adding SeaDek, and she can see the difference between the OEM Marine Mat and the SeaDek.

My wife likes the SeaDek so much more that she agrees with me (and suggested) that I should swap out ALL the OEM flooring to SeaDek.
