2021 yamaha recall

Sounds like this is a general recall across several models. I have a 195s, and I received a letter yesterday.

Anybody know how to get a look at the fuel pump/tank on a 195s?

Isn't there a large panel under the snapped in carpet?

I have a small snake camera but I just filled it with $200 in treated no ethenol fuel for the winter. I wish I knew this when it was empty... Thought it sounded like it might be inside the tank?
I have AR195

I popped both the engine bay and the inspection cover under the rear flip up (next to the jet clean out) and can't see a darned thing that looks like a fuel tank or fuel pump. I'm a decent mechanic and been playing with cars and boats all my life but I still haven't had the "ah-ha" moment where I found the fuel tank on the SX 195. So, my question remains - anyone know the location of the suspect fuel pump on a 2021 SX 195? Picture? Thanks

@JESFromASC I have a 195S, but assume the SX195 should be the same layout. I'm not sure if what I see here is good or bad. I did not receive a letter yet for my 2021 195S, nor a call from my dealer. I assume the letter is on its way.

Does anybody know yet whether the fuel pump retainer ring (7) and/or pump (8) needs to be removed during the inspection?

Super! Thanks. That helps a lot. I figured it might be under there but didn't want to start taking things apart until I was sure.

I'm wondering if there is a second order effect with this recall? Does anyone else have a slow response fuel gage, mine goes from 100% full then drops to 85% or less, there is no 99%, 98%, 97% and so forth, it just drops suddenly? I have an appointment this Saturday to determine the recall issues and see if my sending unit is bad as well.

I believe that is just the nature of fuel gauges and boats.
Funny, US Boat magazine just did an article about it.
Basically it said:
1) Consider anything under 50% or 1/2 as empty
2) Fill up after every outing

I have the same problem it is not included in safety recall our fuel guage is not calibrated good. Probably something we just live with unless you want to replace it with non oem component

thanks for the pictures! Perfect!

We received a notice in the mail also.

I received the recall notice by mail two days ago.

I have this same issue and am planning on having it looked at under warranty. I've discussed this with the dealership where my boat is serviced and they said it's not normal.

It stays at 100% for 2-3 hours then drops to 85% or less and goes down pretty quickly from there.

Please come back and let us know if they fix this issue...

I called my dealer and they told me they would do the visual inspection and it would not take long. However, they do not carry the parts in house and would not be able to order the parts unless the problem was detected and a second trip would have to be made. Great since its a 1.5 hour drive for me. Seems like they would want to have a few extra spare parts for such a thing and fix it on the spot.

I got a call from my dealer before I received a letter. Made an appointment...took longer to un-hitch/re-hitch my boat than it did for them to inspect it. super easy.

If the recall can be a visual inspection that takes a few minutes then I'm pretty confident that it can be done by the owner. I pulled up the carpet, unscrewed the cap, lifted it out of the way and had a good look around. I know a fuel pump when I see one. And it clearly wasn't dislodged, damaged or compromised in any way. I buttoned her back up and called it good. My dealer is a trip to hell and back... 2X.

Dropped mine off to the dealer Friday for the recall and some warranty work. Going to be at least a week before they get to it. Based on the reference above for the fuel pump to get dislodged all all 8 bolts would have to be missing or work themselves lose, am I missing something?

Seems like a hard thing to screw up. Perhaps they simply used the wrong bolts on some of the installs?

Jim
