Hi all,

Looking for a little help with any information anyone might have on Yamahas history with rebates or promotions with their boats.

Do they typically get better as the season progresses worse until the very end, is now as good as they will get??

I am looking at a AR250 Friday and I’m expecting a pitch about how the current rebates end at the end of the month so act now from the sales team so just trying to see if anyone has an inside track or recall if Yamaha has a normal trend they follow.

I am out in CT if location makes a difference

Thanks for any help or insights!

I understand the question and get it, however, my suggestion is take whatever deal they’re doing and get your boat and get going. It’s the beginning of the season and you don’t want to waste the opportunity to go and have fun with your family and friends.

Hasn't been much of a trend on rebates since Covid. There were years after Covid when dealers were marking up MSRP by thousands because they can. Now, you could certainly take advantage of a rebate on a 2025 model, or try to find a leftover 2024 model and work a deal. Don't be afraid to call around and play hardball, consumer seems to be back in the driver's seat, finally.

If you do look for new-leftovers, I would stay away from anything built in 2021, 22 and 23. My anecdotal memory of posted issues here and on Facebook seems to flag those as more-likely to have covid-era defects.

There was a guy on here a couple years back who was not going to buy a given boat because of the sales tax… I remember thinking at the time, Dude, no one on their death bed will be thinking, damn, I shouldn’t have spent that money on that sales tax on a boat that we all went and had good times on.

Well said, the market has tanked. Folks selling used still think COVID pricing is valid and reality is slapping them in the face. Since new 2024's are on showroom floors, there should be no reason anyone is paying MSRP unless it's the most popular model.

That being said, find out if the dealer will sell to out of state buyers before "playing hardball". Some have claimed to not sell to out of state buyers. But that came into play when prices were crazy and they were selling their allocation quickly. They wanted to take care of their local customers. But now, they may sell to anyone with a good credit score or cash in hand.

Thanks for the info!

I did run into a dealership that wouldnt sell to out of state last year. I thought it was kinda crazy but…

I had found one left over with I about 4 hours of me but it actually sold fairly quick and at least over the phone they were only taking a couple thousand off for an ar250 where as further west I found some taking 7-8k off for same boat as a left over.

We will see what they are willing to do Friday price wise for a 25, they are only about 40 min from me which is a nice plus.

Thanks again

If they aren't willing to negotiate against a boat that's further away, and try to stick you with the "well, we service our customers boats first" you can counter like I did:
- "So wait, you're telling me the new boat I'm going to buy will need a lot of repairs?"
and
- "If it does need service, I can drive to dealer X, who's Y miles away for a cost of Z (mileage / mpg's towing x current $/gallon) , versus buying it for more from you."

If you need to travel four hours to the other dealer, and your towing at 65mph and getting 11mpg, and gas prices are $3.10 - that's only $74 in gasoline one-way. $148 round trip. You can make a lot of round trips if they're off by thousands!

HahHa. Ya that’s very true! The time factors plays in there some but I get what you mean for sure. Very similar conversation I had when I bought my current truck actually. Dealer seamed to forget there are ford dealers literally everywhere! lol

Yeah, if I assign the cost of my time, it eliminates a lot of savings. But f them, they don't need to know that. LOL

Well I went today and things went ok. Looked at the ar250, 252s, and the 222s. 252s was alway out of the budget but it was right next to the AR so had to look…

Not sure how pricing has been in these other then what I see posted on line. The offer by the time I left was:

2025 blue AR250 and galvanized trailer with the following extras:
-Starter kit ( anchor/chain and 100’line, 6 life jackets, 4 bumpers, bow/stern lines, spring lines, fire extinguishers, throwable pfd, and telescoping gaffer.)

-kids can pick out a towable tube

- the shipping cover (I assume they go with every boat… what else would you do with it)

- Yamaha mooring cover

Think that was it
Came out to $1000 under MSRP so 73,999 plus dealer fee for boat and trailer so 74,989

This any where around what others have seen?
