Stumpy is a great choice. I think the upgrade is negligible, but I do love my bike yoke dropper. And I would love robot shifting on my bike.

The bike looks nice, but I'm looking for an S3. I think that I'm going to go ahead and get the Expert and specialized has a deal 36 months 0% interest. Sell my Jekyll for hopefully 2800 and then I have some money to play with. Probably I'll just put rear cushcore. You were happy with the Stumpjumper?
Upgrade to good carbon handlebars too.

I think that is one of the biggest bang for buck mods I’ve ever done on a bike. Much more comfortable ride.

The way I see it, I'd budget truly is not a problem, buy the lower tier one and update the parts you want with things you want. Not with what comes with a spec.

That's what I'm thinking. Carbon wheels could be a bad idea for me with the traveling I do. I can't tell you how many times I've straightened out my wheels with a hammer and pliers. I came up short on a gap in Brazil, it would've been a disaster with the carbon wheel. AND I had cushcore! If I swapped my Fox transfer post, bought a X01 AXS upgrade kit, and carbon bars. I still would come out cheaper than the Pro version. I just would miss the carbon cranks and upgraded DT Swiss 350 hubs.

I ran some numbers on my budget and I bought the Stumpjumper Expert in gloss white (to match the future white bmw lol) 36 months 0% interest. I need someone back home to swap the dropper posts so I can sell the Jekyll while people are shopping in the spring. Looks like I'll be flying back on June 1 to get my bike and hopefully sell the motorcycle. Maybe the boat too.. After all I need a car to get to the bike park here

That's a nice bike. Sometimes I wish that I had a motor to help me shuttle some runs.
I was thinking to swap my Fox transfer to the new bike which has a Oneup v2, but people are telling me that I should leave it. It's less work for me. Idk if I'm going to do any mods. I always feel like none of that stuff actually makes me ride better. I'm probably just as fast on the cheapest mountain bike vs the most expensive

Most mods i do now a days are either cosmetic or just for ergonomics. I agree that unless you are riding at world cup level, most comments at this tier of bikes will do the job just fine.

I'm looking at a blue BMW M235i. I'm just waiting on the response on my digital nomad visa. I found a picture online of the 2 series with those seasucker racks. It looks like a good solution. Maybe I can find 1 used over in the states and bring it in my luggage

Noice! I used the seasucker when I had the Model S and it worked great.

My bike arrived a while ago. My brother picked it up from the LBS and sent me this really lazy picture. I'm pobably not going to see it until 4th of july when I go to the states. I've been hoping that someone would come visit me and bring the bike, but it's not looking hopeful. As for how I will carry it, I am picking up my BMW 118i on Thursday so I will probably just take the wheels off and put it inside with a old blanket to protect everything.

Lovely. Two thoughts. Just ship it over with Bike Flights. And why not use a Sea Sucker rack?

I rather take my chances through the airline. My eyeglasses arrived late to Target optical and they shipped it to Colombia. DIAN charged me $170 in import duties for eyeglasses Target labeled as $500 (I only paid $350). I read on DIAN that I can bring things on the plane with value up to $2500 so I am going to edit my receipt to say its a $2200 Stumpjumper Alloy and not the Stumpjumper Expert. They won't know the difference. My Ecuadorian friend thinks I'll be fine (he brings things all the time to Ecuador). Or I have to use it and make it dirty before I bring it on the plane

I'm not sure the sea sucker rack is worth it. The amount of time it takes to clean the car, install the rack, take the front wheel off, then drive to the place, put the wheel back, take off the rack so nobody steals it, etc. It seems easier just to take the 2 wheels off and put it inside the car with the seat down. That's what I ended up doing in Brazil after the cheap bike rack scratched the paint on the frames.

Should be fine on bringing in via plane. They won't know for sure. And yeah, if you find it easier to do that. I for one hate laying my bike down on any surface, and then it will be bumping around scratching the inside of the care. The sea sucker worked great for me in with my Model S. Definitely not as fast as the 1up rack I have now with the Model Y, but I liked the little sumabitch

I've seen some kuat racks here, but thats an expense that I would like to avoid.
Or I can go to .. k-haul .. lol they have a location nearby and I've seen their racks for sale. Look like heavy steel racks.

Or BMW sells a roof rack for like $350 plus I need to buy the bike rack.
After all the money I've spent the past few months, laying the bike down inside is looking real good.

Congratulations! What's your thoughts so far?
I haven't been riding too much because it's awful with traffic to get to the mountains. I upgraded my stumpjumper to 54t, ridewrap'ed it, and got a seasucker rack for the BMW in Colombia so I'll be riding more when I bring the bike there in 3 weeks.

Just got her today. She's beautiful. Color motif is the Colombian flag btw.

Haven't taken her out to the trail because weather is horrible

Lucky (my KSL) has gotten some action, and I am in love with this "light" ebike. Got her a new stem as well.
