Mountain bike riders?

Lucky (my KSL) has gotten some action, and I am in love with this "light" ebike. Got her a new stem as well.

How does it feel on the downhills? I took the santa cruz ebike on some downhill trail in Colombia, and I could definitely feel that it weighed 50+ lbs and I didn't like that.

This is a SL ebike, the lighter ones. With pedals it is at around 41 or 42 lbs. Not that much different than my Ipis Ripmo at 35 lbs. The bike is suboptimal at slow tight turns, which is expected for a 170/170 travel, slack enduro rig. But when you point it down, it eats up everything and doesn't break a sweat. Since it is not a tank, you can still throw it around, but you need to muscle it a bit more compared to a non ebike. For me, this is my perfect bike. I can reach the top of the climb with fresh legs, but still get my HR up. And then I'm nice and fresh to send it down. Party laps for sure.

My cannondale jekyll was like 35/36lbs and it felt nice on the downhills. I would imagine that 41/42lbs is acceptable. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Bring it to Medellín so I can try it ?

The desert is fricken awesome after a rain shower, trail is tight and fast, the air smells of vanilla from the wet bushes!
Today's cardio session, Usery Pass with the Superstitions in the background...

We went to a town called Santa Elena this past Sunday. 9000ft above sea level. For someone that grew up at sea level, I've acclimated pretty well. But these guys can ride a long time! after 4+ hours, I finished with cramps in my both legs and had to finish by walking.

Hope people have been having fun riding this summer, pretty quiet post this year... I went for a ride last night and took some pics to share.

Of course I had to go to 'Paradise'! Fun trail...but my legs are now sore today. :rolleyes:

Best view from the trail, fall color views are pretty sweet from here. Needs a few more weeks of cooler temps and things will be very colorful.

Trail is named 'Raptor's ridge', at the top they have a couple nest stands. Ospreys have taken this one this year and they were very talkative last night.

been doin 2-3 two hour non stop hammer sessions a week. lovin' the Pivot.
ditched the maxxis defacators for vittoria syerra's, never could drift the big side knobs on the maxxis.
vittorias are a hoot! predictable in the loose decomposed granite and sticky on the slick rock.
They are wearing quickly, got my eye on a set of vittoria mezcal xc race.

@Bottom Bracket where is that?

I’ve missed this thread for a while.

@Cambo thats some really big riding for starting at 50! Awesome to see!

I just turned 45 and haven’t hardly ridden shit since meeting my wife about 10 yrs ago. Got away with it for a while but getting slow and fat now.

Gotta get back on the pedal bike and probably get a new one. My 2011 s works stumpjumper has a blown out rear shock that seems irreplaceable and I can’t find decent 26” tires anymore either. Annoying as someone who’s buys nice stuff hoping to do it once.

@Bottom Bracket
Dammit there was a pretty good deal on a pivot switchblade here locally that I was going to ask you about but it’s gone. I knew it looked cheap, just wasn’t up for the discussion with wifey.

I've had my Yamaha Moro for a year and a half and have been loving it. Almost 4,000 miles on it. Switching to the Pirelli Scorpion made a huge difference for uphill traction.

I ride a Trail 429 with a 34, Xt, Xtr, Raceface. Some say a 36 mo Betta, I'ma cc guy, the 34 is awesome.
The 29" Reynolds hoops are fricken crazy dependable, the industry nine hub is a bit loud, I like a silent bike, a loud hub is a tell.
The dw rear link thingus allows me to hammer through the bottom of a dip without doing a stutter step, no funky bounces or the rear fighting the front.
I rode with Seth and Chris when Chris was Titus (now Pivot-pivoting from Ti to Composite).
Pivot is in Tempe and the bikes are assembled here.
The wheelset is the money,
I was looking at a Santa Cruz Tallboy when the Pivot found me.
I have a 99' Santa Cruz Super light that I raced the MBAA circuit with, 98-05. Back then a Titus Ti racer wasn't in the budget.
