2018 doesn't have a sub

Huh..... I didn't expect that. The 2018 I'm looking at has both - stock tower lights and stock tweeters. @tabbibus - I wondered how I might have missed seeing a sub in the sales inspection. I seems that's what was traded off in the 2019+ models. If so, it's probably better for our situation - I can then add a sub/amp combo without any stock amp setting changes.

Hoping to pick the boat up today. As soon as the weather clears, I'll dig into it and try to report back. Thanks.

No it doesn't. Do you have the HTX6 amp? I'm also on Lanier (South Side) - See you around!
Oh nice! You know, I've looked everywhere and have not found an amp. I don't think I have one. See you around! Have you been out yet? I plan to get in the water saturday. Shrinkage be damned

I know the 2019 LSE is how I have it posted. My neighbor at the marina has a 2018 LSE and it had tweeters and no sub. He added an enclosed sub and 2nd amp and added 2 more speakers at the helm.

Look behind the door under the helm. It would be there. I started getting out in January when we had 1 or 2 days of weird warm weather but water was in 50's brrrrrrr. Water is now around 71-72. I'll be out Thursday - Sunday when this rain clears..... see you around!

The 2018 doesn't have an amp or a sub... It does have the tower tweeters and lights. I also have JBL's on my tower. As described in another thread, the brochure stated the E series came with tower speakers and we told the dealer we wanted them or we weren't buying.

I'm in the process of planning some upgrades and everything runs off the Fusion unit. I just had to replace it since the volume knob broke off my old one. I took a couple pictures of the harness if that helps. I don't know how the tweeters are connected.

So on the 2018 242 LSE, how is it wired so that the Connext can remote control the swim deck head unit? I may upgrade the stock RA70N to something that has 3 zones, but I want to retain existing control from the e series helm too. Alternatively, I may have to get a line driver to break out the signal then balance sitting positions through the amp.

The problem I want to fix with 3 zones is that while underway, the folks in the rear cockpit and bow sit on the speakers and get blasted while the captain and navigator can't hear while underway.

Zone 1: Swimdeck
Zone 2: Rear Cockpit & Bow
Zone 3: Mid cockpit and tower tweeters.

I think it's the NMEA functionality and cable that goes from the Fusion to the Connext. I'm getting ready to add an amp and mid speakers to my system and will stick with the 2 zones. Waste of $$$ to add another head IMO.

You're right, but I also wanted to use my satellite subscription.

I run Sirius off my phone. Why bother paying for another subscription..... that's just me though. I just replaced my Fusion unit because the volume knob was broke on my old one. Put in the RA70NSX and it has the Sirius connection on it. Only 2 zones though

Will that work when there is no cell service? I'd do that if that were the case. I bought a lifetime XM subscription nearly 20 years ago. It still works - no monthly fee.

No, you need cell service. I didn’t know they had lifetime deals.... beats paying every month!

I got your pm and will contact you. But the HTX6 that you already have has room for 2 more speakers to be ran for mid cabin speakers. This would help keep cost down. If when adding a second sub. I would run a new sub amp to power both subs.

Reading this is like reading a foreign language! o_O I have the 2019 242LSE, so can I run the 6 WS factory speakers off the factory amp and take the WS sub off the factory amp and power 2 tower speakers all on the factory amp and then run the factory WS sub and another sub off another 4 channel amp?

IMO you would be better off putting a line booster between the factory amp and the sub. I would do that first and just give it a try as it is an extreme change. Without it it's like the sub is not even there on the factory system. And if you want to add tower speakers after that add a second amp for those. The problem with running tower off sub channel on factory amp is the sub output from the factory amp is bridged and according to my testing this cannot be changed and there are several other issues that would also end up being foreign so I'll skip it.

Great, thanks for the advice. Any chance you could PM me instructions on how to do that or shoot me a youtube link. I'm audio illiterate.

Sure but I am currently on vacation so it would be next week. Someone else might chime in with the answer too ?? Thanks!

Awesome... Any takers. It sounds like I need to find the sub rca and splice with the line booster?

Yes you can add a pair and run all 6 cabin speakers off the HTX6. You can not run anything other than the 1 factory sub off of ch5/6. Adding a line driver is the best bang for the buck. Next would be adding a pair of speakers mid cabin. After that you get into new amps and adding a 2nd sub.

Granted I have a '18 242x but. Under way the boat is just as loud for the bow /rear/mid cockpit. Actually the bow and rear cockpit are louder. If you turn it up to your liking the rest of the cockpit will fall inline, So Z1 should be all cockpit also the Sub is tided to Z1 level. Z2 rear swim and tower tweeter. you could put the tweeters on Z3 but not sure it would be needed.
