2005 AR230 saga continues, now I have water in the oil

It is right by the two water cooling lines.motor2.jpg

exhaust port.jpg
i had an exterior-only crack on either side of the thermosensor.

I can pull it in about an hour by myself. Of course I am all setup for it and its way easier in a ar230. The only thing I need help with is removing the engine cover. Here is my setup.
Whoa whoa whoa....Electric hoist? Disqualified....No wonder you can do it so fast.

Seriously, that's impressive.

@Big Shasta right!! Trust me, I would rather not need it. :(

I got the motor in and started it. Now I need to go to the lake and break it in. I did notice on my old motor, after removing the exhaust, that the crack goes almost the entire length of the block

Glad you're back up and running. I'm sure a small crack doesn't take a long time to spread and make things worse. Are you still planning on rebuilding the old one? I'm in ordering parts, soon to tear down the old block stage myself.

Well, took her out today and 5 minutes before the last break-in, rod starts knocking. Grrr....guess I will see how the no fault warranty works.

cybuch - I hope the warranty goes well and the next one holds. I would not want to remove and replace mine again. Did you get an SBT block (preminium) or did you get a rebuilt factory core? On mine I got the SBT block since mine would not work for a core. I am at the 10 hour mark on mine. Fingers crossed.

Perhaps that is a different type of 'break' in. <sigh>

@mdwarchichoke , yep, was a SBTblack because mine was cracked. I did go for the 2 year no fault warranty.

@tdonoughue , you got that right!

Bummer. I feel your pain @cybuch. Hang in there.

Well, I sent the motor back to SBT and apparently, the no fault warranty only applies after they spend 3 or 4 days looking at the broken one before they will send me a new one. What is interesting, when I bought it, the sales person on the phone told me if I had an issue, they would send out a new one right away. So I am on day one of their review as of Friday and they will only send one out IF they have one in stock, otherwise it would be an other month before they send one out. I will keep you guys posted on the progress.

I'll bet if I call they'll have one in stock to sell. ;)

Or course they would and if you had any issue with it, they would send a new one out right away! At least thats what they would tell you....lol

Here is the latest update, SBT had my motor since Thursday and they got it tore down and discovered number 2 & 4 rod bearings spun. They told me to check my oil pump to make sure it's working correctly as, this would cause the spun bearing. I removed it and tore is apart and all looks good to me. I ordered a brand new one, just to be safe. SBT is going to rebuild it again and ship it out Friday.

Well it sounds like SBT is trying to get you going. I always hated when I bought an engine even with warranty knowing if anything happens I have all the work of getting it in and out again. Plus the joy of insuring the install was done properly. I only had that issue once on a rebuilt transmission. Sounds like you can get the engine out and in pretty quick (practice makes perfect HA!) so you can try it again and I am sure it will be fine this time. Good luck!

Yes, they are doing their best. For me, its the shipping time...a full four days from florida to Az. And that damn engine cover.....ugh! I am getting good and pulling and installing.

Well glad to hear that they're making it right @cybuch

Whew! Motor can in today and it is in the boat. Going to take it out tomorrow to break it in....fingers crossed!!
