Has anyone noticed fuel mileage changes when switching over to aftermarket impellers?!?!?! This is the end of the first summer with our 2016 AR240. I have had 4 Yamaha boats over the years (2005, 2008, 2015, and now 2016) and always thought they had good fuel mileage. We always got a full weekend of long tubing and skiing or 2 weekends of just cruising and swimming on a tank. This newest boat guzzles gas! I can only get a day of tubing or a weekend of cruising out of a tank. I was told by the previous owner when we bought it, that the impellers had been upgraded to solas impellers. I don’t know if they are performance impellers or just stock pitched. At this point I’m seriously thinking about going back to the stock Yamaha impellers this winter. I’ve also noticed a bit more of a metallic jingle on the port side pump at idle, which doesn’t give me a good feeling. So I’ll need the impellers, and probably the impeller housings while I’m in there. Are there any seals or gaskets I need to order?? Looked at the parts break down and watched a video and didn’t see anything. Any input would be appreciated. Is there another avenue I might should look down first?

To answer your question can these impellers affect fuel usage? Yes. I lost .3-.5 mpg when I went to high altitude impellers but the increase in performance was / is well worth it.

Having said that there are a lot of other factors involved.

-Which engines does your current boat have?
-What are the maximum rpm’s at WOT?
-What is the top speed of your boat? And how many people and how much cargo on board?
-Is the gas tank in this boat a different size than your previous boats?
-Have you made a visual inspection of the impellers / wear rings in your current boat?
-What is the mpg of your boat according to the connext display?

Most importantly, are you happy with the performance of your boat?
