Does a 4 star 2024 ar 190 have a lower rev limiter

Never heard of such a thing
I’m testing the theory out in a two weeks I think a carb 4 star engine limit is 7100 rpm’s non carb is 7650 I hit 7100 no matter what elevation no matter how many people are in the boat hits 7100 rpm’s I’m getting a RIVA tune with limiters removed if it shoots right up to 7650 then that’s how Yamaha is getting these engines certified car with lower rpm operation less emission if the tune does work it’s gunna solve a lot of low power issue that I see on this forum quite often with these California boats

Those boats are restricted with cats and different fuel mapping. Which chokes the performance. By increasing a rev limiter or doing a tune from riva wont give you much improvement for the cost. For one its a 190 which many have complained about poor performance even in 3 star engines

500 to 600 more rpms more would be huge difference for ar 190 if it works that would make most ca models who stuck at 34 ish go closer to 38 39 mph if the tune does that even RIVA doesn’t know cause they have not tuned any new 24 and up ca carb boats yet but the 24 ca boat has a kw of 115 lol so there is more then a cat holding that boat back but I’ll definitely report back the results after the tune

I hope you’re able to solve your 7100 rpm issue with a RIVA tune, what did Jesus tell you?

When you say what ever elevation you’re at it hits 7100 rpm, exactly what elevation are you at and what was the temperature?
Have you checked your air filter for oil fouling and or your oil level for proper fill?
Installed a new set of properly append spark plugs?
Are you running 87 octane fuel?
Have you asked your dealer about this?
What was your speed with varying amounts of load including fuel level, cargo and passengers?

115 KW works to roughly 154 hp, the new 1.9L engine is advertised at 200 Hp or 149 KW.

I wonder if there are any non ca AR 190, or any other 1.9L owners here who could check their engine labels and report the KW rating.

So any 4 star boat don’t get the 1.9 they get the 1.8 so if people don’t see that white valve cover it’s a 4 star boat so a non 4 star boat 1.8 is 177 hp a 4star 1.8 is 154 hp my boat rpm no matter what elevation 4000 or sea level no people in the boat. Loaded boat it never goes past 7100 rpm’s my budy has a ar 250 also 24 both of his engines also 4 star also only does 7100 rpm’s as Whell and also has same power plaque as me 115 kw so so im the test dummy for the theory of the tune bringing up the power closer to the 177 hp mark I under stand the cat so you cant get to 198 like a non cat model would with a tune but closer to stock 177 seems possible and 500 to 600 more rpms would greatly improve the ca boat but RIVA has no idea cause they don’t normally do 4 star engines but it’s gunna be a trail and error situation

Right on… hopefully RIVA compensates you for being the tester!

Interesting bit about the 4 star boats only getting the 1.8’s.. Yamaha probably did not want to pay the money to do the CARB testing to get them approved, and, CA just implemented another set up emissions regs as I understand it. Same reason my boat could not be sold beginning in 2021 due to new emissions regs.
