Hello fellow boarders from a Canadian friend. I am looking for support trying to discern between a Yamaha2020 212X and 212 LTD S. I am looking at two demos of this boat and trying to discern the key differences. (price point wise at the dealer currently there is very little difference in price) I am also comparing this to a used 2018 Yamaha AR 240. Your words of wisdom are welcome and pls speak candidly. Thank you.

Candidly: Welcome! Great to have you here with us.

Usually a big wait for any of the 2020 models. So for many the decision has been to ORDER a 2020 or to buy and immediately have a 2018. It is the off season (probably a little more off way up north there), so immediate access may not be of concern to you, but with COVID and supply chain disruptions, people have been having deposits sitting on boats for months. Something to consider.

Feature and boat-wise, I believe we have a tagged thread at the top that compares different years and models. I bought the AR240 (a few years earlier) over the 210 series solely based on the extra few feet of space. It worked out very well for our family of 5 (we could bring another family of 5 out to the lake and not be crowded). So much of the decision will depend on your situation and use profile. Can you give us some additional detail as to who you will boat with and what you will do when out (surf, tow a tube, fish, wakeboard, float, etc.)? That will help us help you better.

Welcome! The “X” series comes standard with the ballast pumps/bags and is geared towards wake sports. I hope this comes across legible, it’s from the 2020 product brochure, and let’s you know how the models compare feature wise.

:Welcome:
Another Canadian has arrived!
I'm guessing you're comparing a 2020 X model vs a 2019 LTD S? If so, the basics are the same as very little changed from 2019 to 2020 model years. The differences are the S vs X model - where the X adds wakesports features as standard. The brochure helps and you can do a comparison on the US Yamaha website too. We bought the S model because we're not heavy into wakesports but we wanted a nice jetboat and the S model has more of the comfort features that we wanted.

what are the key feature differences between the 2020 212X and and the 2019 LTS S?
When did Yamaha introduce the drive technology?
We are comparing the above boats to a 2018 AR 240.
Opinions welcomed please.
