Not sure how it happened while being towed. But sure is reminder to pop the hood and look for leaks. I’m sure I don’t do it often enough. Or maybe just the ghosts of “cursed” Lake Lanier. And folks on nearby boats were more interested in taking video than rendering assistance.
Cheers

A tragedy for sure… and a good reminder to always run the bilge blowers and as a few have done install explosive fume monitors that stay on all the time.

But meanwhile thousands of others enjoyed the lake over the 4th without incident… that station sort of did a bit on that or not, but then brought up two other explosions… the one idling away from the fuel dock that died then exploded when the engine restarted almost sounds like the fuel got put into a rod holder or something.. dunno 🤷🏼‍♂️

but the “news” always seems to highlight the awful… and most tragic.

Related note. Does everybody run the blowers and get everybody off the boat while fueling? I see it not happen a lot and the dock attendants don’t say a word.

I do not. But I run the blowers and or pop the engine hatch to check for vapors.
