You do not lose any bed space with the BakFlip and it is made with different materials. Powder coated aluminum, vinyl covered powder coated aluminum, fiberglass/polymer. Check out their video on YouTube:

or, here is a link to their website:

nice truck, I opted for a little brighter color, but everythings the same ;)

i'm going to have to try that jailbreak, thanks for posting the info!!

also, I got the undercover flex (very similar to backflip), but has a couple additional things I liked....I've been very happy with it for the 7 or so months I've had it http://www.flex-cover.com/

@Murf'n'surf Like you, I am just now getting used to the 8-speed tranny and all the shifts. The other thing I am having a hard time getting used to is the shift knob. I keep reaching for the column shifter, then to the center console thinking I am in the wife's car. My daughter laughs at me when she is with me.

I've finally got used to my shifter, but now when I drive anything else I always try to turn the radio or a/c dial

@cane.mba What motor did you have in the 'o3? Was it the 8 speed transmission? I'm still getting used to so many darn shifts off the line!

Nice truck @BravoMike I debated going with black as I'm a semi professional auto detailer and enjoy shining up black paint but I don't have the time lately to keep black looking showroom.

I've updated the Uconnect with the jailbreak version and now have the addition camera/video inputs and the speed lockout. My cargo cam and front cam are ordered. I might put a y in one rca feed to have the ability to play movies from my iPhone on the dash screen for the little guy during long road trips.

@Murf'n'surf How well do you like it, was doing a little more research and not sure if I want to spend the $350 for it. It appears that the SRT functions aren't available for our US trucks, is that correct?

I got the Silver package for $243/USD I think their website has outdated prices. The Silver package gets you the program file to load into your truck, the wire harness and a generic back up/front camera to mount.

The SRT is not available in the USA, I confirmed that the other day.

I don't have my front cam or cargo cam mounted yet but I like the option to input data while on the move and this system gives me the option to play video on the dash monitor. I'm a gadget guy so this is up my alley.

Love the blue @woodard1983 that was on my list but nobody had blue locally.

@BravoMike Thanks for correcting me on the BakFlip. That's the one I am interested in as well. I'm not sure how water tight it is but I like the vinyl covered look over the aluminum/composite.

@OperationROL or anyone that has the BakFlip .... How water tight is this system?

I am on my second truck with the same BakFlip and love it. It is water tight except at the seam with the tailgate. It takes a driving rain to allow some water to seep through. At a stand still it is water tight for me. The undercover flex is a good option too.

Here's another contender but it looks like it takes up a little bit of bed room by not folding tight against the cab.

I have the flex and love it, you lose 5" at the very top of the bed, so far it hasn't been an issue for me. I actually like it as I wasn't comfortable w/the cover sitting against the cab while moving.

So far it's been through heavy thunderstorms, blizzards, and auto car washes w/o the slightest leak inside the bed

Video on the dash & the ability to view rear & bed cameras while under way is what interests me the most, I'll check on the price, for $250 I'm have a lot more interest!

Does it cover the 3rd brake light when folded up?

You can't view the tailgate cam over 8mph. Ram updated the system to kill power to the camera at that threshold. You can run seperate power to it but I just ordered the 3rd brake light cargo light cam to give me a rear shot while moving.

Damn, the cargo cam will be good enough I guess. Where did you order yours from?

I'll see if the brake light is visible & let you know tomorrow

it does cover the 3rd brake light, I've attached a pic that shows it and a picture that shows the support brackets that hold it up. I only pictured one, but there is one on each side and very solid.

based off the looks of this one I don't think you'll find a trifold that won't block that 3rd brake light.

sorry about them being sideways, not sure why they are like that they look correct on the desktop that I uploaded them from

So far mine has been 100% water tight (even at the tailgate and seams). I took it through a car wash last weekend and no water go in.
