@sunbyrned It must be a KY thing (i'm in southern IN now, but I still don't claim myself as a hoosier ). I also dislike the bare gelcoated floors. Not only are they hot, but they are slippery as dammit too. We tried it for one outing, and immediately decided it was NOT for us.
Only hot part of the carpet for us is the black edging and the black snaps. Those get unbearable.
We do pressure wash our carpet at the end of each season to give it a nice "fluffing" of sorts. Usually lasts until mid-late June and it's flat again. That helps with the heat a little I think.
I can't figure out an easy way to get the mooring cover on while it's in the water, so my boat always looks like a bug holocaust every morning! I gotta clean up before I can even get out for the day. Looking at adding a wash down setup so I can pretend it’s nothing but cocktails and smiles owning a boat.

I put mine on while the boat was in the water on vacation. Only had access to one side of the dock at that time as well. To say that putting the mooring cover on only with access to one side of the boat was a pain would be a major understatement. I debated leaving it off a few times just because it was a giant PIA. Glad I didn't because of the rain, but it was close.
