I just spoke with Farmers in terms of coverage.
Scenario 1:
If the boat becomes disabled and not sinking, they will consider the boat abandoned and therefore not cover it.
Scenario 2:
If the boat is disabled and sinks they will cover it.
Scenario 3:
If the boat is disabled and takes in water but does not sink ( aka be fully submerged), it needs to be towed ( flooded) back to Florida to get it covered.

PS. 2 weekends ago we practiced man overboard and recovery through rope. If it comes to that I have extra clips, so maybe we could try jet surfing. :wacky:

It's not as easy as you would think! Need to capsize it and drill some air vents in keel near the bow.....not that I have any experience in this mattero_O

Working with another company for the insurance, I will report back when I get the quote and specifics.

Try Sea Insure. I am covered all the way down to Turks and Caicos.

On advice of counsel I decline to answer.

I personally, sending my family to another boat and then getting ready to drift to Iceland. In the meantime, my wife will be debating about cashing on my life insurance or filling wrongful death claim against Farmers for re-commanding me to stay on the boat. LOL

No way I would have left today I would have waited till tomorrow when the forecast is half of what today is.

No problem for me, but I turn my batteries off at the dock. I have a secondary bilge pump that is directly wired so the boat doesn't sink.

@Valerie, @robert843, I would not have chosen to return today but it looks like they left Bimini's inlet around 2:10 ago and are about half way back.

Do you only have one battery? I would bring a jump pack as a backup. You don't want to get stuck at a remote location.

We run our boats so much that many are fine without shore power. That excludes those of us that have refrigerators or are using upgraded stereos.

na I got two. just asking :) I'll listen to other peoples music :D

Gotta get me one of these for this year's crossing. I almost broke my nose on my windshield during last year's crossing.

I agree with @robert843 I wouldn't have left either. It looks like their pacing for a 4 hour crossing which is brutal when only going 45 or so miles. If they don't pick it up fuel is going to be an issue for some I would imagine. I would not want to have to refuel in 3 to 5 foot seas with short periods. They'll definitely have a story to tell.
