Good afternoon!

I'm just now able to get back onto the site. Had to clear cookies and cache to be able to login at all. Now that I'm in, the site is remarkably slow.

I seem to remember reading we had some sort of attack a few months ago. Site has been down for me ever since. Got an email about a PM this morning, and just now attempted to log in. I had all but written it off as lost/broken.

Do I need to get myself added to a "whitelist" or something? Is this just they way it is now with additional security? Did I miss anything important (I tried searching, but it times out)?

Thanks in advance to the admin team, I know this isn't a paying gig, and appreciate the efforts!

I get on about once a week, to see if it's back up to speed. It is not. Five to ten seconds between screens. Most of the time, the ratio of members to non members is similar to right now...13 members and 16,000 non members. Seems strange to think there are 16k people just browsing. We're not that interesting.

@administration

@Admin has not worked for quite a while. Bruce did something to fend off the AI bots. They were piling on and nearly crashing the site.
He has a fix but has not fixed it yet. Was wondering where you have been. Hurry up and wait...

Thought I did something to piss off the admins there for awhile; it was getting spicy on a few threads right before the attack. Then the site just went dark for me. Thought I had lost you guys.

S-Seriesforum.com did that to me years ago. Was a frequent online hangout spot that just went dark one day. Wife found some Facebook postings that it had moved to that venue. Was really hoping this one didn't suffer the same fate.

If you hear from any of the admins that they need some help. I'm standing by to be called into duty. No idea what I can do, but I'm here if needed.

You are good with the admins. You would have known if you were not. You are a seasoned member, not a spammer. Odd that you timed out and did not get a reset. @Murf'n'surf had a similar situation. He was banned somehow and I had to contact Bruce, outside of the forum to get him off the banned list, about 2 weeks ago.

Things are slower in between pages and notifications don’t always load up. Just something we’ll have to adjust to. Still grateful that this forum is still up & going.

had lots of time outs again this morning. Glad to know it's not purposeful.

Like @Babin Farms I'm just glad it's up and running. Honestly the lack of speed of the site will likely keep me from spending too much time here at work :D

Explain what you are experiencing. What browser are you using?

I copy/pasted and quoted you…I cannot insert quotes and edit.

We're not that interesting.

Speak for yourself, I'm a treat! 🤣

It has its ups and downs for me. I tend to open up multiple tabs and close them as I read them, so I don't get lost in what I've looked at. Some tabs require a reload, else it's just a cached page with no new info (and I'm aware that there is, in fact, new info).

I too, had issues with quoting and editing, but using "reply" gets me a quote function in a roundabout way with Firefox. Chromium is also slow, and Ungoogled Chromium browser seems to be just as bad. Hitting any kind of "Like" is a 20-40 second adventure as to whether it will indicate, or if I have to hit it again. Then, out of the blue, things just work as normal for 10-20 minutes.

When I'm up overnight, things seem to work perfectly fine on my phone, using Firefox, with little to no issue.

Dunno if this info is helpful, but it can't hurt

It's working this morning. Long load times (5-6sec) on any link clicked. The "timeouts" are just straight "We can't access that website" errors. Similar to a 404 error, but it's not a "can't find" it's a "can't get there". I'll screenshot it next time it happens, then when it comes back again I'll post it here. Might be a few days at this rate though :D

Looking at the current online stats, there are ~6k "guests" online and 8 members. Much like @Coult45 mentioned, it looks like the AI bots are crawling all over us. Wonder if there is a setting to limit guest connections, or add a "I'm a real human" filter in there at some level.

What stands out for me is there is a DNS issue with the domain host. For quite some time, a person could not even type in jetboaters.net without errors. Now if I type the full URL www.jetboaters.net it loads, but takes some time to resolve.

This is a DNS host issue and worth looking into. Keep in mind, I am no expert, but I have hosted my own site with GoDaddy for over 26 years. I would check with the DNS host, as there are some issues going on there, that could effect site performance for all.

Maybe it has something to do with being unvaccinated.... Sorry, just kidding.
