I've seen several posts mentioning that if the Yamaha Connext touchscreen stops responding, one must resort to using the joystick. I've tried menu navigation using only the joystick a few times, but it seems that it can only scroll among top-level menus without the ability to select to access the various sub menus screen controls (ballast, system info, etc). Plunging the stick had no effect, nor did any of the physical buttons. I couldn't find anything more detailed than just the mere mention of the joystick as possible means for navigating Connext in the user manual, maintenance manual, or online. Is full menu navigation possible using the joystick? Or are we truly up a creek if the touch screen ever stops responding?

My touchscreen stopped resoonding about 4 years ago and I was able to navigate completely using the joystick. If you want to go down in the menus, just pull the joystick towards you from what I remember. Can't check it now because the boat is in storage.

I was able eventually able to restore the touchscreen by going into the calibration screen and resetting the touchscreen. On my 2017, I have to press and hold the Sys button

Perfect, thanks @Dave burke. I don't think I thought to try pulling on it. (I'm like that kid pushing on a door that says "PULL"!)

I'll try that this spring.

I "think" you press down on the knob and that will bring you to the sub menu etc. etc.

Yup but to scroll down, I think you pull it towards you. Going from memory of course

No, you rotate the knob and that will scroll around and highlight a specific tab and then to press down on the knob to choose the specific tab you want

@KC-AR240 - hmmm.. I must have tried that ten times and I couldn't access any sub menus. I wonder if there's an issue with my joystick. (<-- insert several bad jokes here.)
