Finally got a much needed vacation. Spent 4 days at one of my favorite little reservoirs, Starvation State Park. We found a rare (for Utah state parks) VRBO cabin with water front access to rent for the weekend.

Day 1 rainbow and sunset were spectacular.

Great pictures! How was it with the smoke? Fires to both the East and West of you. It's the wrong direction for you, but if you are ever up around Rockport hit me up. I live across the street :-D.

Here's one from back in the day that she ruled the seas (courtesy of Wikipedia of course):

"Massachusetts shelling Kamaishi, Honshū, Japan on 14 July 1945. Outbound projectiles of a full broadside of her 16" guns are visible in upper left of photo."

Obviously air power is king now and the battleship's day is over, but the ability to lob a Volkswagen over the horizon is nothing to scoff at.

I was off the coast of Beirut in 1983 in a small boat watching the New Jersey lob VW's, first time they fired since Vietnam. It was Awesome[flag][flag][flag][flag][flag][flag][flag][flag][flag]

The smoke was actually pretty non existent by mid last week. We caught a whiff a couple of the mornings but it stayed clear. We were watching the dollar ridge fire closely due to the fact the shut down the highway right before the bridge over Starvation all the way to Strawberry. Of course the cabin was right on the wrong side of the bridge. They opened it back up the day before we were supposed to be there.

Passed the fire on our way up Wednesday by Deer Creek just a short time after it was sparked. There was something like 6 helicopters furiously filling and dropping buckets to put that one out. It was impressive to watch! Made it hard to drive... I think they were fortunate to already have choppers in the area which allowed them to extinguish it pretty quick.

I enjoy traveling to some foreign waters in the region... Deer Creek and Joranelle are ridiculously too crowded to bother with... I don't think Rockport would be out of the question. It's actually a closer drive than Starvation. I'll let you know if we decide to try it out. Is it crowded on the weekends? What's the shoreline like, rocky, any "sand"?

Shore line at RP on the west end is pretty rocky except for in the middle beach area and on the far south end (but that's icky grass yuck down there). East side all along the camp grounds is sand. Lots of folks camp overnight and beach or put their boat in at anchor in a bay. I rent a slip at that lake so it's usually quick in/out for me (except for when they don't move the docks out far enough...)

Glad to hear the fires didn't get you too bad. Dollar Ridge broke out and we could see it from Wanship. Fire is scary up here too, because it's so dry (we've had a few fires... one fire burnt down the cabins on both sides of me). I have a neighbor friend of mine up there July 1st/2nd and they shared some pictures on FB where the smoke was worse than valley smog in the middle of winter. Pea soup. Glad it was safe and the pictures look like it was perfect!

Always nice sunsets at my marina.

Yup, it was a "mental health" day. And Wake Wednesday was a big hit! It just had to happen.

I've seen your boat on the slip there at Rockport. We've had our '06 SX 230 in the dry storage with the Marina's valet service this summer, but we're hoping to get a slip next summer! My dad just bought a cabin in Weber Canyon (Pine Mountains). We've had some great days on the lake. Not quite as warm water as Utah Lake where we normally boated (prior to the cabin), but it's been fun.

DAMN @D3nN1s Looks like Pool water!!

Current situation: I got the lake all to myself. Including the ramp lol!!
