Great job on your boat. Been following it for a while now. Love what you’ve done. Here’s a video that I made years ago on one way to remove hydro turf (or similar products). Hope you might find it useful.

the more i read about issues with electronics on newer boats Im kinda happy with a boat that I can fix and has no warrantees expressed or implied...
Im happy that when a cable or seal or any other component fails chances are I go to may spares pile and pull out an new one or a used one and replace it... I was doing that with 65U motors once a year...

if i were gonna get another boat it would be a 28-30' all aluminum Munson cat hull landing craft with Hamilton jet drives at 500-600 HP/side
i've got it all spec'd out and have a preliminary quote... however the economy right now is not conducive to spending north of $300K for something i want not something I need... :arghh:

just to keep the thread consistent

amp config

and todays work... pulled the last of the 18 year old upholstery... gonna drink over the new design (possibly marine mat) whilst yachting this afternoon... putting in the speakers now...

ok this is coming together... sound quality is still improving so i need to put the other 10" free air sub in the sbd side.... and clean up the AMP mounting and wires this week. then it on to the marine mat and jet pumps... and I picked up a bunch of west marine Blue LED's on the dead rack for cheap to redo my cockpit lighting and a couple of white LED's to light the engine bay...

does it ever end ?

so after playing around with a few different amp configs and sneaking up on the speaker config I settled on this setup... mostly looking for good sound inside the boat at a slow cruise like 6000 on plane, and on the sundeck and out the back when Blond Beach Barbie is sunbathing or dangling her feet in the water...

I got less than $1000 in this set up and it sounds great... the subs really filled out the sound.... crossover set at 450 Hz for the subs at 200w/ch and the rest goes through the 8 6.5 mains at 100w/ch.. Im guessing the coax speakers have a built in crossover...

now just to tidy up the mounting and the wires... so i built this setup to hang the amps off in the port console under the dry storage... the third amp isnt here yet ( i have two in the in the boat but they have seen better days ) but you get the idea... so this plywood hangs vertically to access the line in and gain controls and is piano hinged to flip up 90 so you can get at the wiring easily through the top hatch after pulling the liner out... maybe have a little foot that drops down and holds it in place LOL.... ok and that's not quite what they mean by bridging the amp LOL

the weather is beautiful here today... the water is pretty calm and no wind... snapped some interesting shots... you can see the plated keel I built and how it extends and integrates the single trim tab and the well worn cobrajet steering...

works great sounds fantastic... gotta cut the other sub in tomorrow and wire up my solar panel array then that project is done... should make some progress on the marine mat tomorrow too... and my custom gunnel pieces are gettin made now.. oh and adjust my base trim tab angle as I ran the 2 strokes with about 5 degrees down all the time... it made the boat much more stable gonna make up tab +5 or 10 degrees... now that my fuel load is forward on the centerline i don't need -5 all the time

had to turn the subs down a little but other than that all good...

ok time to start on the new jet pumps... I have an aluminum Jack plate welding job on Saturday so the welders will be out... so I'll weld in the bungs for the HO pump screen covers... if I get ambitious ill machine the stator housings for the plugs and new bolt circle and make the new stud kit to bolt it all together... then its assemble the new pumps 22mm shafts, impellers, swap the mid bearings drive couplers and rubbers... (here's a dirty little secret I'm actually using the 135 rubbers and 20mm spline side of the couplers with with the MR-1 engine side couplers they changed the shape of the rubbers and the couplers very slightly but they slide right together with no slop)

I will pull my pumps for the first time since getting this boat over this winter. I am starting to get a little cavitation so it is time to get under and behind the boat and tidy it all up...that pales.in comparison to everything you take on with your boat!

ok so welded up a flats boat jack plate this morning and it inspired me to build my HO pump prototypes... the thinking was that I needed to weld some 3/4 NPT bungs in the screen covers to feed my original transom plates cooling water... well under further examination the welds would be skinny on meat around the o-ring grooves... SOOOO.... Why not just tap the bitches... once I did that the other stuff was trivial... one down... having a Ice Tea, ill whip out the other one and still have time for a three hour sunset cruise LOL

so the purchase of the Dead Jet ski and nearly another complete one in parts minus the hull has really paid off.... I have two complete low hour 155 HO pump assemblies to bolt on my boat now... I'll bet the speed picks up and the cavitation subsides dramatically... one had 260 hours and the other had like 82 hours according to the ECU's... I have enough NEW spare parts to build two brand new pumps just like them as well..
