WOW, I've been in chaos lately, flew back from Korea then 2 days later, spent 4 days trying to get a flight out to Bahrain so I'm behind the times. Sorry to hear about this but you seem to be doing much better.
Prayers coming your way from way over here in the Middle East. Hang in there.
My spirits are high because i can talk to people. My body/mind need a lot of work but believe me when i say i am determined! I do not wanna miss any more of this short life than i have to! That and my wife is horrid with the kids homework! Ha ha! Love ya Susan! She's great to me for sure. I am sure coming home i will test her patience doing my best in tgerapy so i make less burdan there too!
As I came across this thread I must admit, I was deeply saddened by the initial news. . . . . However, I am highly optimistic considering the outcome thus far. Keep your head up brother.
So i know i mentioned going home this weekend and once i am settled back in i will recap my whole "adventure thus far. It will be good therapy for my fingers to type anyways.
They no longer have me on a blood thinner but i am on something for cholesterol (you should see the cookies and sweets piled in my room, and for blood pressure. I am hoping the blood pressure med is just from when i had high blood pressure during my anxiety attacks. Your mind is powerful guys! It spiked my pressure over160/120 for a good duration while i was in Chicago. Thankfully it's a lot lower here now to the point that i don't have the constant monitor. Now i harasss the girls when they come in to take vitals by saying " coming to check that i am alive?
That is good that you were seeing a doctor so there are some baseline blood pressure readings for comparison. Do you remember if your BP was over 120/80 during those past checkups? Looking at you I would not expect you to have high BP but I have a friend who also appears very healthy but has genetically high BP.

@Speedling - we're all very happy to hear that you are doing much better and taking the PT head on.
How's the family though? I know from working offshore that it takes alot on the family when dad leaves. Poor Susan is a pure champ and a saint!!
Are the kids old enough to understand what's going on and that you're ok?

The kids don't quite get it. Clayton keeps asking why he can't stay here overnight with me. Joselyn apparently was off at school. Not bad just off from usual. Understandably as she was with me wheb i had the stroke. And i don't come from work every day. And i don't kiss her goodnight every night and call her my princess. Certainly a bond between a young daughter and father that is precious!
But all the more reason to be excited about going home!
Tomorrow they let me be modified independent which means i may walk around my room and not have to call every time i need to pee etc. I still am using the quad cane for stability on longer walks. It's a whole lot better than the walker i graduated from!
Lol i don't know about that! I had a hard time BEFORE a stroke! Oh snap i gotta ask the doctor about alcohol with my meds before i leave! Very much looking forward to a glass of wine with my wife tonight! Over 2 weeks in hospitals and today is go home day! I did my recap strength tests at 7 and showed improvement everywhere over my baseline when i got here. Puts a smile on thier faces too because it's like a successful job done!
Sounds like you are making some good progress! Keep up the work sir! We are all pulling for you to make a triumphant return to normalcy with maybe a little less anxiety.
Be sure to make a list of your questions. Used to be that every time I went to the doctor or am in the hospital, it was always right after they walk out that I would figure three more things I wanted to ask. So now I keep a list (I use Outlook OneNote, but paper or anything will do).
So being home is very good. I actually can walk without cane in the house just fine which feels incredible. My problem now is the meds have me walking in zombie mode. Left a message with doctor but basically a side effect of prozac, which is supposed to go away after a week. Prozac is for depression which i obviously don't have but i guess it also helps regain motor functions in stroke patients. Either way it's the first drug to be eliminated but it's a very annoying side effect
